S3 LOWER BRACE

Featured Replies

Put this on yesterday, but over tightened one side(what a muppet), how easy are the captive nuts to get off and will it damage the hole it sits in if i try getting it out. Thought about either ball joint splitter or hack sawing them off. anyone else done this or just this heavy handed clownemoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Finally got round to fixing this today, should anyone be as heavy handed as me and get carried tightening up the bolts and damaging the captive nut, the easiest way to remove the captive nut is too drill it out with a 11mm drill bit.

Now that it is connected up properly cant say i've noticed any difference to the handling but the steering feels a lot better, tighter and more responsive. Just need to get the upper brace fitted now see what difference that makes if any.

the upper imo made more of a difference than the lower!

The two are meant to work together.

The bottom one, as memntioned, supports and steering rack and sub-frame, allowing the top brace to direct the main energy across the top of the engine bay

Recon fitting a top-strut alone would be a bad idea, as it would place more stress on the steering rack and sub-frame :o
