This is how they do motorsport in deepest Cornwall

Best say the topic title with a cornish accent. ;)

Went to a local motor racing event - time trial setup, full MSA organised event using proper timing equipment / beams, etc. Thinking of having the mongrel in there next year. Would be the only diesel. ;)

Enjoy the video. Was quite a variety of machinery from usual Caterhams, to a Jag XJ6, to various old skool minis. :D

Do you have any info on the event, websites or anything like that ?

Google Newquay motor racing club as they organised it.

Costs roughly work out to £40 p.a for a race license, £60 per event for entering and then costs for getting proper gear like racesuit, gloves, helmet etc. :)

I looked at entering this event last year but didn't have the funds at the time.

I think the relevant race licence would allows you to compete in hill climbs and sprints, (ie anything timed not wheel to wheel racing)

Torquey powerful diesels would excel surely - one with 300bhp and an LSD should clean up :)

Correct title for the event is a Sprint.

To enter you will need to be a member of a Motor Club, and hold an MSA Speed Licence.

Cars in the Standard Road Going Class are not allowed any modifications, other than some safety measures, but driver will require fireproof overalls and helmet.

Pah! That's not deepest Cornwall!

Over in St Day (next to the scrapyard and tip, vaguely near Redruth next to an old tin mine) they have bangers once a month!

Lol, I was thinking that, deepest Cornwall? It's way up-country :D

God, you come from the same county and still you argue! :giggle:

I'm coming down your way in October to knock your heads together!!

I think the Cornish are just as capable of arguing amongst themselves as the Welsh - its a Celt-ish thing :D
