Insurance renewal due 29/9, have not had renewal quote yet but did Confused, GoCompare and Compare the Meercat. Got fairly consistent quotes, best being E Sure and First Alternative (who are almost the same company it seems) at £208. (For 1.8TSi)

What I really wanted to check was how they cover the free courtesy car I get during services, admin. cost etc.

Both said they do it for free if you are fully comp., so long as courtesy car is "smaller" (older, cheaper, less powerful, whatever) than your own car. You just give them the courtesy car details by phone and they fax the temporary cover to the dealer doing the service.

In the past I've had other outfits charge me £45 for one day cover!!!! (And that for a courtesy car worth about £500 !)

So it looks like yet another first-time customer for E Sure (unless I get an amazing renewal quote from LV before then.)

(BTW, Sheila's Wheels were pretty good too.)

Should go through Quidco if you haven't been on the esure site yet, they are offering £60 cashback on car insurance.

...and another handy hint (picked up from this very forum) for you or anyone else who happens to look in - add a 40+yr old female to your insurance - mine dropped about £90 by adding my better half who only has a provisional & never had a driving lesson in her life.

I'd love to but I haven't got a 40 yr old female to add!!! I've got a 67 yr old one who doesn't drive (no, not even provisional) so she might be difficult to explain.

H'mmm.... very clean driving record though............
