no the Fabia is defo a girls car... lets face it something that people buy cos its a: cheap b: economical c: easy to park... cant really be that manly can it?

As opposed to a?...

a 206?

a paxo?

a fiesta?

a yaris?

clio_v6_1_nagy.jpgthe only manly small car.......
Probably would be best to decide upon a car on whether it fulfils useful criteria, rather than picking one to reaffirm your sexuality...

Who said anything about reafriming sexuality?

I mearly gave my opinion that the Yaris is a girly car due to its curvasious lines. In my opinion the Fabia looks a lot better as I feel it has fairly chunky and non curvasious lines.

Well, why else would anyone be bothered about not choosing a car 'cos it's "girly"?

I dont think a car needs to reafirm someones sexuality, but I do feel however that I would feel rather silly driving a car which I feel is a bit on the feminine side.

Again tho thats my opinion on the car some people will see it from different perspectives and I respect that :)

you can make any car either girlie or butch... depending on what you do to it...

manly!

Any skud without the v logo is feminine :peepwall:

Seriously though the Yaris is a good motor and so is the fabia, it's all down to personal taste. You cannot knock Toyotas build quality and reliability the top gear survey proves that.

Toyota quality is top notch... drove a yaris recently and currently borrowing an MR2... 67k on the clock.. and feels as tight as the day it left the showroom... handling would teach the fab a trick or two... prob even a lot of the Octys out there...

Probably very little in it.

All comes down to who offers the better deal & servicing costs etc to be honest...

Just had a look at a few pics of the Sportier Yaris, it's not a bad looking little car.

Even with a pink gay icon on the bonnet?

i agree that toyotas are good cars... especially the T-sports mmmm vtec goodness :D

And what about the Daihatsu YRV turbo... which is basically a Yaris with a turbo - and it weighs 930kg :D

Ah, yes, the Daihatsu YRV. 130bhp, cheaper than a Fabia vRS. :D

There's some tarted up versions of the Ignis too, I believe...

or a :gay: 4wd siroin "rallye" with flappy paddle gearbox

Fabia vRS is definitely a mans small car IMO, its too ugly and aggressive looking to be a girly car :D

Dont knock those Sirions either, I remember once being behind one for ages on a country road, overtook him, he disappeared, and then 5 minutes later he appeared up my chuff, must have been doing about 120 mph! Considering the conditions it was in, I was surprised - it must have felt terrifying!

Also, its interesting how on a Skoda site, so many people hate the Fabia vRS. More people praise it on SeatCupra.net than they do here...

Your right Paul, does make you think?

People's opinions are people's opinions...most people on here seem pretty honest, and if they like something they'll say so, and likewise if they don't like something.

Just 'cos it's got a green squid on the bonnet doesn't mean everyone has to like it... :D

Personally, I think you misunderstand the comments / reactions of people on here ... I don't think anyone really "hates" the Fabia RS. I certainly don't and actually quite like it for a decent mix of economy, performance and stealth - it just doesn't fit what I want out of a car as its too small. However, both the Octy and Fabia RSs (in the same way as most cars) do have weaknesses and I can't see why anyone on here should get too upset if someone points those weaknesses out ... we all have cars which IMHO are good value for what they are and the fact that they aren't world beaters in every facet shouldn't surprise or annoy us.

There has been plenty of praise about the Fabia RS on this site, but on a site where banter has always been part of the appeal, the Fabia RS will get its fair share of stick .... you should have seen some of the Octy 4x4 vs RS banter before the Fab RS turned up  :fence3d:

I dont think anyone hates the Fabia vRS on here... it just seems that one or two of the owners seem far to eager to take the bait.

Maybe they prefer rattley little girls cars on the Seat sites.....

Give me a co car budget of 11k and a diesel only policy then i would buy a Fabia..

give me an extra couple of thou and i wouldnt.. doesnt mean i hate it...

speaking as a member who bought his Octy because i wanted it not because it was all i could afford ( dont take that the wrong way - i just mean if i had wanted an est or 4x4 or scoob or evo or whatever i could have got one...) i have found it to be fantastic and even better than i had hoped.

the Fabia is pricey for a small car... the Octy is not for much more for a much bigger car.. that and my belief that the octy is better looking made my decision for me.. tbh the real choice was Octy or Superb for me.. I still wonder what would have happened had i gone for the latter... just how much power wouldi have got from a big turbo 2.5tdi....

the Fabia is pricey for a small car...

Not really..

you can get a low spec 1.2htp fabia for

Dont agree at all, especially with the build quality taken into account. Its unfair to compare it with the all but obsolete Octy vRS as they are being sold at well under their RRP at the moment. The fact is, the Furby RS was probably one of the few new cars I could afford at that price that was a significant upgrade to my old car. OK, so I could have had the YRV, but frankly I'd feel like a tool driving around in that, and I just plain think its horrid. Or theres the Sirion, again, horrid looking, not really that quick after about 70. Or theres the Clio, which is an interesting one, and one I may have ended up with had I not got the Fabia. My doubts about the longevity of the engine made me doubt that one - indeed I do wonder how many petrol cars would last 100k miles with me behind the wheel, I am not saying that to show off or anything, but I do drive cars hard, I dont know any other way, but thats just me. The fact that diesels are apparently very hard wearing engines that last hundreds of thousands of miles was a big selling point to someone who is likely to be forced to keep the car and run it into the ground.

Also, the fact is, not everyone needs a car as big as the Octavia. Its a FAMILY car, and for one person to drive around in, is a total waste IMHO. If I was going to buy a 1.8T engined car it would certainly have been the Ibiza, had one been offered at the time. Also, despite what you Occy owners may think :P some people prefer driving smaller cars as they are often more fun... this is why I was also strongly considering a Lupo GTI but I opted out because I had read a few reports about how it wasnt as exciting as you would expect such a small car to be... which led me to the conclusion why make that much of a compromise if its not going to be any benefit. Anyway, I guess the Furby vRS is not in some peoples opinions the most fun car of its size, class, whatever, but I think it is a really great car in its own little way, and so many people just entirely miss the point AFAICT. Its not supposed to be a high revving, ragged, grab by the scruff of the neck hot hatch. Its a sports diesel, a car which is best enjoyed for high speed cruising, but one that is also fun (IMVHO) to drive when it is taken on a B-road - of course it can be improved, but the Octy is hardly perfect either, despite what some folks on here might think ;)

Anyway, I've rambled on a bit, but I've said my piece so nerrr :P

Now from someone who works on Toyota's for a living, I would say that the Yaris is a good little car. Personally, I wouldn't buy one because the plastics feel cheap and the quality isn't up to the usual Toyota standards. If you are getting a new one, then the T-Sport is the only choice as it's still Japan built, the rest are all made in France and quality isn't great.

The Fabia is much better built and the vRS and T-Sport are close on price. The vRS though is the quicker car. Add a re-map and it will walk all over the Yaris for only a litle bit more money. The Yaris can be made to look very nice though. A mate of mine has one and is in my opinion alot better than standard and not anywhere near as feminine looking as they normally are. ;)

Thanks for the replays. I think I have made my mind up beforeI singn on the dotted line.

If you really want to compair cars what do you think of the Clio (with me owning one at present) v the Fabia.

If I had of known what I know now I would of bought a Skoda ranther than a Renault. The Skoda probably would of been much more reliable than the Renault.

The Renault has been into the garage about 10 times in 6 months. 5 timea for the same problem, a sweek on the steering wheel.

Thanks

Mark
