Fabia v Yaris

Featured Replies

I am planning on changing the Clio for either a Fabia, a vRS if I can afford it or a Toyota Yaris. What I would like to ask is what is your view on the Fabia against Yaris?

Thanks for any help.

Mark.

What do you want from a car and which model Yaris were you looking at ;) Think you might find that asking this question on a Skoda forum will be a bit biased so we might need a bit more info :D

Yaris = another boring japanese car :ne_nau:

We drove a Yaris before deciding on the Fabia.

The Yaris was very quiet, very easy to drive, controls as light as a feather. Build quality seemed very good but a bit plastic.

I don't think you can easily compare the Fabia vs Yaris, I think the Clio vs Fabia is a better comparison (we also tried one of those).

I have been looking at either a mid range Yaris or Fabia (a T Sport or a vRS if I can afford it). What I like is the reliability of both cars. My slight preference at the minute is the Skoda.

I looked at the T-sport before buying my first Fabia. It looked a nice car, but I was not too keen on the size, looks and the quality of the plastics/build as they look as flimsy as most french cars but as they don't seem to go wrong it's all superficial. The insurance was a few groups higher too. My advice is to take both for a test drive first and make your mind up that way as they are totally different cars.

Most, if not all UK yarises are assembled in France. The speedo is quite nifty too

Was that the head up display thing? Reminded me of the Vauxhall Astra GT/E mkII :(

i suppose it comes down to your own personal taste really. Before I chose to order the VRS (due march!!!) i test drove the yaris. It was the 1.5 t-sport??. It was very quick and the car was well specced. Ride and build quality were excellent in my opinion. Dealer was keen to negotiate and i know the residual of such a car is high.

However, i then test drove the Fabia and was literally blown away....

Remember also that the Yaris is due a model change very soon. I'd say test drive both cars and pick what suits you. Asking on a Skoda forum you'll obviously know what the reply will be but youll still get unbiased opinions.

Well, it's the digital thing in the centre of the dash, if thats what you mean, although the T-sport comes with white dials :(

It actually reminded me of a Austin Maestro Vandan Plas or top spec Honda Preludes (I know which one I would prefer of the two ;) )

DONT DECIDE

Go for the Fabia Vrs, end of story. no other questions need asking. Full stop. You know you want to :D

On a serious note, won't you be getting more for ur money out of the fabia vrs than the Yaris t sport.

cheaper insurance, a diesel, probably not all about speed but it is faster (correct if im wrong as i have not done any research to the yaris), oh and it wont depreciate as more as a clio or a yaris. A potential project car for the future, like most people on here have done so already.

Happy New Year and happy deciding!

Yaris = Midwife car :D

Toyota Yaris = reliability, good build quality, good residuals.

Skoda Fabia = ----------------DITTO-------------------, fun, economy, upgradeabillity, ( run out of any more +'s )

Feel free to add thos of us that own Furby vRS's

The Husband of my mother in law had to bring his passat to the cardoctor, so he did get a car from him to drive in the mean while. Guesse what? Yaris 1.5 T-Sport. He told me it was a very fun and quick car, so i leant it for half a day.

OK, i did get in the car. The seats were very high, just like in those new non-dynamic cars like i.e. a Renault Scenic. So, non sporty at all! Well, it wasn

It's all down to your personal choice in the end, you can listen to people bang on about this and that with both cars. My only advice is this. Both the cars are very good and have very good engines. The thing that swung it for me over every other car in it's price range was a combination of a few things.

1. Build Quality

2. Cheap Tuning potential

3. Comfort

4. Interior quality

This however is my opinion and I am sure others will say the Yaris is better and for them it will be.

Those Yaris T-Sport's are a rip-off IMO. They are the same price as the vRS, but smaller, with a weedier engine, and pure toy town interior. Horrid, horrid, horrid.

When I used to have a Micra Sport+ (a 1.3) I used to get T-Sports trying to burn me off on many an occaision and they could not pull ahead at all. Very poor considering they were about 25 bhp more than my Micra :D

Honestly??

Its a birds car with those curvacious lines:

Thanks very much for the advice. I got to admit now I have been thinking about it I do prefer the Skoda. I think I will have to go and take a look around a Skoda dealer when I get time.

The Yaris is a great little car but it is aimed at a different secotr that a Fabia - vRS in particular.

The japanese have not been into diesel long and have not yet developed a performace version... I have no doubt tat a T-sport with som tuning bit for the Vitz (JDM version) would out handle a petrol fabia with some tuning bits but there is no high end diesel to compare..

as for them being girlie....

depends on the pic doesnt it.....

I don't know how long it would take from placing the order to receiving the Yaris, but I know one of the current problems with the vRS is it takes aaaages to get, especially if you specify a couple of options!

May well be a consideration if buying brand new.......... :)

No still looks like a birds car. Sorry.

Also was unaware they came out of the showroom looking like that?

No still looks like a birds car.

The Fabia's hardly a "butch" car though, so it's not really an issue.

Probably would be best to decide upon a car on whether it fulfils useful criteria, rather than picking one to reaffirm your sexuality...

Rob.

Is there ANY small car that could be classed as being butch?

i think the Fabia is very butch on a scale of small cars :D

no the Fabia is defo a girls car... lets face it something that people buy cos its a: cheap b: economical c: easy to park... cant really be that manly can it?
