Oil Catch Cans

Featured Replies

Can any one tell me if the occ's you can get have any sort of filter in them. Thanks in advance

This topic has had lots of coverage.

The "standard" catch can to go for is the Saikou Michi Stage 3

http://www.saikoumichi.com/951_page.htm

It has an internal filter, snorkel pipes and 19mm inlet/outlet.

Well made and simple. Custom version can be made to order.

From the states, check out the group buys section to see if anyone putting a group buy together.

Hi,

mine arrived yesterday funnily enough, its a very well made unit, looks exactly as above picture.

I did ask about internal filtering, apparently there is stainless steel mesh partition internally to aid separation of the oil in the vapour.

I chose not to wait for a group buy and went for it, and the cost was :- $135 (including p&p) or £88.87 in old money.

Now in the process of getting fluro-lined hoses, clips, t pieces etc.

NB: "Bodge" Has posted a superb "how to" topic on here.

Good Luck

Peter

They are not fitted by standard.

The warm air from the top of the engine (rocker cover) is extracted and redirected to the EGR assembly and back to the engine. The idea of the catch can is to remove the oil from the air, and just pass on the warm air.

The pikey mod is just to vent to atmosphere, and cap off the entry point to the EGR assembly. I am planning on doing this, rather than shelling out for a can :-)

pikey mod is for diesels not the 20vt cars

it removes oil vapour from the crank case breather and rocker cover before it enters back into the intake side of the turbo without a catch can your turbo and intercooler gets coverd in oil meaning they potentially wont last as long or work as well

so with the adtion of the catch can the oily mess is removed so clean i/c and turbo = loster lasting and better performance from the intercooler etc etc

a must imo on the 20vt engine

Hello

Above link does not appear to be working in IE8, was wondering if admin could work out why?

Equally, the OCC install is so important, it really ought to be a sticky (possibly showing what parts, how much and how to)
