FAST browser :)

Featured Replies

For every upgrade FF is running slower... and I'm getting a bit paranoic over google's ubiquitous presence in our lives, so not a fan of chrome. Now I've found Iron which, basically, is chrome without the google connection: http://www.srware.net/en/software_srware_iron.php

It looks just as ugly as chrome, but is really fast. Sadly I haven't succeded in getting it to work in my linux distro, but under windows it runs great. Easy to import stuff (bookmarks &c) from FF.

When you say "slow" - in what terms do you mean? Graphics, Page Loads, JavaScript execution, etc?

FF 4 (Currently in Beta) is supposed to be the fastest yet.. Has hardware accelaration built in and runs some of the latest HTML5 demo's fast as anything.

For Javascript - I'd say the WebKit stuff (Chrome) is the fastest.

For page downloads - try Opera..

It all depends on what you what you're looking for - I develop web apps for business and we always test on a variety of browsers, and do notice that somethings are faster than others.

What comes to my mind is 1) app start and 2) page downloads. On both aspects both google chrome and iron beats FF by furlongs. Opera is also pretty fast, and was my first step away from IE (before mozilla/FF came into being), but there are still these odd webpages that just don't show up properly in opera...

I agree the start up time on firefox is getting larger and larger.

I have Minefield (FF4 Beta) and i have to say i don't think it's faster than chrome when it comes to day to day page load times. It's not much slower but still slower none the less. :smirk:

Cheers

Dave.

Not much slower is better than at present then.
