Leaking Boot!

Featured Replies

Hello All,

Just got back from a week in France, where one day it rained solidly for 24 hours! The day after I went out to the car, opened the boot part (not the full hatch) and water - like a running tap almost was running out of where the rubber bung stops are at the base of the boot!

I did some investigating, namely being shut in the boot with a torch, while someone ran a hose over the rear of the car, so I could try and identify a leak, but couldnt find anything.

Has ANYONE experienced this before? The spare wheel well was dry, and there were NO signs of water anywhere else, it seems to have been in the boot lid area behind the carpet lining.

Thanks in advance for all replies and help.

Are you sure that the water is not coming in when the boot lid is opened? This happens to me all the time, especially after I have polished the car and the water beads and flows quickly. I have the rubber boot liner and that collects the water and I mop it up with a cloth.

No, this water was far too much compared to the run off that I usually get when I open the boot after washing, or a light downpour.

It was actually coming OUT of the bootlid and the bottom part of the carpet was wet.

Just wondering did you get this sorted? I think I have a leak in my boot but not to sure where its coming in.

No, but I am at a loss as to how it happens. The only thing I did notice while in the boot while water was poured over the outside is that the boot rubbers on the sides of the bottom part of the boot appeared to let a minimal amount of water along them, but not enough to drip.

I Don't get much luck with this car it seems, the pollen filter was leaking - the garage could find NO trace, the door seal leaked on the front passenger door also!

When the temperature drops my Superb hatch mists up like my old SEAT Leon used to! One of the reasons I am considering a change of vehicle!
