Things Yetis do

Good trick for winter....

When the ingnition is turned off, hit the wiper stalk. The blades will then move to vertical position. Leaving them there when it's going to snow / freeze makes clearing the screen easier in the morning. This is the correctly speaking the service position for changing the blades.

Also....

When leaving the car press and hold the 'lock' button on the key fob and all the windows will close.

Pressing and holding the unlock' button will open them all at once - handy if you have a dog in the car.

And....

No doubt most people will discover this one by accident. When parking up the car at night if you've been driving on full beam, when you restart the engine the lights will come on in dipped mode only even though the light stalk is in the full beam position. (On the 'S' model anyway).

Yes, this is quite helpful as I tend to forget I've been on full beam and it avoids any nasty experiences for oncoming drivers when restarting.

My Octavia Scout used to do the same, so it must be a Skoda thing.

I would imagine it would do the same if you turn and hold the key in the door lock it, it will either close and lock or open and un-lock.

The rear wiper doing 1 sweep I imagine its the same on all Skodas (possibly all VAG), my Fabia does it too. If you notice the heater fan changes noise when reverse it is engaged, it is because it changes to re-circ mode to stop any any exhaust fumes from entering the car.

Hmm- sometimes I rather prefer the polar opposite to endless menus. My Seven has no abs, no aircon,no power steering, no power brakes and not much at all really apart from 400bhp per ton.I love the Yeti xenons but boredom set in before I was halfway through the endless and very turgid handbook- which is why I keep getting surprised by funny little quirks .

Bolero volume reduces when you engage reverse emoticon-0114-dull.gif

I've no idea if it serves any real purpose but I like the way the headlights do a dance when you turn on the ignition. It certainly turns heads when you've got your lights set to auto and it does it in a covered car park.

My wife told me off and said I had to stop playing with my toys when she saw this. I couldn't convince her that it was a feature of the car and not me messing around.

I know this might sound lame, but I can't seem to figure out if it is possible to open the boot without switching off the engine - maybe it's a safety thing?

Welcome Anna

there is a switch between the front seats in front of the handbrake which glows orange when locked. press it and it will unlock all doors so you can open the boot.

On the Fabia, once the engine is started, the boot won't open until the driver opens their door i.e. passenger cannot hop out and open the boot, nor can any passer-by / rioter / person of looting intent.

I guess it's a security as opposed to a safety thing, but took a while to figure the right combination out!

I always knew the fan was doing something but never knew what?

Thanx for that. Mystery solved.

I like the way that when you hit the mute control on the steering wheel, Bolero pauses the track it is playing on the CD or SD card until you press the button again.
