Roomster alloy wheels...march 2010

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I bought a 10 plate skoda on sat last week - roomster 1.4tdi registered in march and its gots 17inch alloy which the garage are insisting was STANDARD (the june 09 and june 10 bouchure show it as an option)....i disagree with this and was wondering it anyone can give me some advice on what to do next - i live in cornwall and the garage was bought from wales so popping to see them is not an option!!

thanks

smelly

you got a free option upgrade on the alloys and you want to complain???

This is the Octavia II section BTW

17" are good on the Roomster

Whats wrong with them?

not complain!!lol - just the ride with them on the roomster is firm - i would have preferred the 205/45 16's which gives a little more comfort and thought this was what i was getting - still might change them and sell the 17" ones :(

nothing wrong with them - never really had low profile before and live with loads of traffic calming - just feel firm :(

in principle the spec was not listed with those alloys either !! ;)

The difference with 16" will not be noticable IMO

I would learn to live with them TBH

found out today that i will have to !! garage is saying they didnt order them in 17" but as they were factory fitted and calibrated that way i cant change them anyway - something to do with the 5 bolts system!!

had the tracking done today though as way out and tyre pressures wrong - feels alot better now!! bloody garage that sold the car last sat said that had all been done!! :)

So essentially the garage is saying that you can't swap to 16" rims because they have 5 bolts?

Can anyone else smell that? Sounds like B.S. to me.

Seriously though, the calibration thing isn't all poo, the tyre size calculator I posted in your other thread advises no more than a difference of +/- 2.5% in the rolling radius.

I disagree with others comments on the 16's being no more comfortable than the 17's. I have (in the last week) swapped the wheels on my Fabia from 17's running 205/40/17 rubber to 16's running 205/45/16 and it's sooooooooo much less crashy ride wise. Oh, and they both have 5 bolts :giggle:

If it were me I's pick up some 16's with suitable rubber, run 'em for a while, see how you get on. If you don't like them, sell them go back to 17's. If you like the 16's sell the 17's. Simples.

Some 16's for sale:

The different wheel sizes are corrected by the tyre profile:

205/40 17 radius =297.9mm

205/45 16 radius = 295.45mm

Difference = 1%

So the dealer either didn't want to be bothered or lacks knowledge

Are they factory wheels? Thought the Scout only came with 17's?

They were an optional extra outside the UK before June 2008 (unless of course you had an ex demonstrator with 'em on) B)

In standard guise they come with 16's with th 17's a £310 option

it is an ex demo from askoda garage in wales - but they are insisting that they did not order the 17's it just came with them - i have asked them to produce the original order paperwork and send to me....

my local skoda garage were the ones who said they had been onto skoda uk and found out that the wheels are factory fitted and that they could not be changed as the 5 nut bit would need to be changed too as it specifically goes with the 17" wheels....

the plot thickens!!! ;)

i agree but local garage insists that they can not be changed as the plate bit that holds the 5 nuts is calibrated to the 17's and that would need changing too - i think i need to see what garage i bought it from says as they are saying they sold the vehicle as standard but the bouchure says it shoulod hav 16's on it!! someone is telling porkies!!!!

you didn't say what 17inch alloys, are they actually the same wheels that you can upgrade to in the brochure or aftermarket with skoda badges?

could you post a pic of a wheel?

this is the same garage in wales that messed up my roomster order which arrived minus sunroof. I'd take anything they say with a pinch of salt
