How does the scam work then?

No way in heck that a 2008 mini will be going for £3k unless it was heavily crashed and for parts only.

How does the scam work then?

There's a few different ones on the go, Parkers went through with one for a very cheap Audi A3 convertible - the owner had supposedly moved from the UK to somewhere in Europe and hasn't been able to sell the car because it's right hand drive and therefore they're selling it cheap as they want to get rid of it. They then offer delivery at a very low cost and will offer to go through ebay (fake version) for buyer protection and unsurprisingly you can't pick it up in person.
