the wife has the car atm, but after looking through the posts on this site there seems to be some type of reference to a BLT engine in the VRS.

What is the difference between this and others?

Look at the inside cover of the service book - it's noted there in large letters at the top right of all the little letters...

It depends how long yours was between build date and registration...

BLT engines put out roughly 10bhp more in standard tune, are more economical and smoother.

You'll be hard-pushed to find a stuttering BLT these days and most folks are taking the EGR operation out completely as it again helps with almost everything and is useful only for supplying an anti-shudder function at engine switch-off.

So, sorry, but I'd have to disagree - BLT is the better motor.
