Yeti's at The Newbury Show

Featured Replies

There was me thinking mine was the only yeti at the Newbury show...

Oh no...

There are four yeti's going round a 4x4 course down by the tanks and fair ground area.

Well worth a visit to actually see what they can do!

Were they from a dealer, or SUK?

Think they were from SUK - the chap we were talking to was talking about all the car launches he does for VW Group and how he really likes the SM - great to drive, very good build quality / reliability and ride.

He also commented about all the dealers saying that the 2nd hand value is nearly as much as new at the minute because of the lack of available SM's in the market.

One thing I did learn was that when traversing across a slope the SM will apparently deploy the side / curtain airbags if it decides you're on too much of a slope and in imminent danger of rolling over. (no I'm not planning on testing this out!)

Any pictures?

I only took one on the phone :( unfortunately, I wasn't expecting to need the camera, so left it at home...

Why oh why can't SUK's pathetic excuse for a Merketing department not inform people waiting for their cars (or indeed current owners) of events like this?! I would have gladly gone to Newbury to see these had I known.

I went on this yesterday. I have to say I was really really surprised at what the Yeti could handle. Both angles of attack, sideways tilt and descent control were very impressive. Now that's had me thinking about what car to buy next!

Only thing I'd say is that the driver was very good about explaining what the car was doing and how it worked but didn't seem to bothered to sell it's other features (on-road for example). Which was fine, but can't help thinking that they could have done a bit more marketing. Maybe the driver was a skoda test driver...
