Auxillary Light mounting

Featured Replies

This might be a good solution IF they decide to make one for the Yeti.. : My link :smirk: Not to flashy like a "bull bar, but still a sturdy place to anchor extra lights. The aluminium anodized finish would compliment the rest of the "aluminium" trim on the car..

The holes that has to be made ends up under where the number plate is as standard, so taking off the "bar" and reverting to stock looks like an option??

My guess is that they will make one for the Yeti, because a lot of the swedish car magazines like the Yeti and I think it sells pretty well in Sweden ;)

Looks like they are doing various kits for the Tiguan and also a universal kit so I guess it's only a matter of time before a Yeti kit is developed. However, the lamps look rather vunerable to car park knocks, but that'll be the risk you have to take when mounting large aux driving lamps.

Agree about the vunerability of them, especially with the way they park around home. I shall be having a fiddle with some soft ali bar to see what I can make up, then perhaps get one of the local motorsport fabricators to weld something up. I'm only thinking of some roughly 5" Hella's so they shouldn't stick out too far if in the right place.

From your other post, nice to know LMC are still using Aintree. I remember events there when I was a member of LMC back in the mid seventies.

Looking at the Octavia instructions, they seem to bolt an insert through from inside the steel front panel & then bolt into that via the number plate mounting. I assume that the steel structure behind the bumper is the main fixing and the bumper effectively only acts as an additional support to stop the fitting vibrating.

Yes, LMC runs all the car-based motorsport at Aintree these days. I took over the club back in 1998 when it was dormant and have been chairman ever since. I keep trying to stand down, but they wont let me!

I have a feeling the Yeti front bumper might be different as someone said it is foam filled.

I know the feeling about being stuck with a job for years; I was secretary of the local CSMA group in Worcester for over 15 years and only got out of it when we moved away! Now I'm just on their national Motoring Committee and delegate to the Welsh Assoc.

The H4 bulbs can be directly replaced. I do suggest a mirror to set the bulb in place and a small pair of hands to get into the lamp housing.

The near side one is the most difficult to get at on my Yeti. I found temporarily taping the bulb locking clip out of the way and using a pair of long nose pliers on one of the H4 prongs, helped to reach around the restricted headlamp opening.
