Fabia Sport

I have to say that i'm a lttle bit disappointed in Skoda doing this, i mean releasing a softer version of the VRS or at least something that is similar but with not as much power. Enter Ford, they have been doing this for years (bringing out editions of so called 'exclusive models') and see how much say a Fiesta or Focus depreciates.

Don't get me wrong chaps, if a watered down copy of the VRS flicks your switch then fine, but i can see the exclusive 'FAB' Furby being undermined! I mean at the moment if you came across one on the road you take a second look, same is going to apply with the Sport me thinks! Hell i could be wrong :pants:

The current fabia range (according to the skoda website) ranges from a Classic 1.2 HTP (54bhp) up to the vRS 1.9TDI PD (130bhp). I wouldn't call it a softer version of the vRS as strictly speaking, it's not badged as such (despite having some of the styling, maybe?)

What is a bit daft is that the price for the sport (75bhp) is

Wonder if they will be the same cream ones as the VRS?

We all know they look nice...when in the showroom, but if they had a more practical choice it would be nice

I'd call them horrible, cheap, and grey... I refused to take delivery until they'd been reupholstered...

Hmm, doesn't look that sporty - maybe they should have asked permission from adidas to put three white stripes down the side of it..

Regards,

If a car's being badged "sport" you'd expect it to be quick, rather than just looking good - but would a 100bhp fabia have better performance (1.4 16v or 1.9tdi)?

I agree. To release a Fabia Sport with a mediocre 75ps engine seems slightly odd. Why didn't Skoda nab VW's 125ps engine from the Lupo GTi? This would have been far more entertaining than the 75ps motor.

Ford have just launched the Fiesta GTr based on it's 1.25 engine at about the same time as they bring out the RS.

Because then it would have been as fast as the vRS.

vRStu, do you have any links about that Fiesta you speak of?

the fiesta rs might not come out and that gtr is just donr by the dealer not by ford

Thr Fiesta RS has been canned, as Ford couldn't get it so it made any money. And they couldn't make it loose money as they lost aroung

I also see that VED is class B - hmm.. extra road tax.. I'll stick with my TDi thanks..

Regards,

The Fabia Sport has the 75 bhp engine for a couple of reasons.

1. Keeps insurance costs down so will appeal to younger drivers

2. Its aimed squarely at the Corsa SXi and the Fiesta 1.4 which both have 75bhp (ish) and are around the same price.

But where I think Skoda have cocked up is the spec, cental locking, electric windows etc are all cost optional. but you do get a 6-CD changer as standard, personally I think they would have been better making the changer an option and at least putting CDL on it.

I'd agree with that wholeheartedly Ross - especially as that type of customer would probably end up getting the stereo system upgraded anyway. Central Locking and leccie windows are nice toys :D
