vRS R How can we make Skoda build one?

Featured Replies

I can't see removing sound deadening material or lightweight seats is going to appeal to the broad market that the vRS has now. That would be too specialist, like a limted run, which means it would cost more for effectively less.

A lightened version could put the car into a lower emissions band while at the same time giving you more bhp/tonne :)...

I have an ED30 engine with a k04 turbo and other bits, running 360bhp ish. It's amazing :)

Harry, if possible, could you give me breakdown of what was involved in getting the ED30 engine in there? did it involve replacement ECU etc? no detail too small!

DIY: it's the only way to fly B)

They'll never make one, so pick and choose the components and approach you want, from the fairly vast array of uprated items out there

Cheers,

Steve

A 200bhp+ Diesel engine to compete with the BMW 123d engine

the 240bhp petrol unit, which will probably happen as it's only a matter of time.

Better Stance, Panoramic Roof would be good.

Otherwise the actual package is very very good for the price ie. 17.5K now for a vRS - nothing else in the VAG stable can compete

Would love a vRS with all the mods previously mentioned, but I have to say after owning a Peugeot 307 sw previously, a panoramic roof would be awesome. :thumbup:B)

Straight swap mate. They're effectively the same engine, but with different internals.

I sourced the engine off eBay, for £350 and it was a minter with only 17,000 on the clock

Should perhaps drop the 3.6 4x4 out of the Superb in it that would be a laugh. Slightly OT, I see the new Audi S1 S-tronic puts out 186 bhp out of a 1.4....?

Never say Never

All Europe VAG cars, a part from Skoda, are made in the Euro zone and therefore only Euro zone countries can sensibly afford them.

SEAT is in such financial problems that VAG have said if it does not start making business sense then they will close it in Spain and either close the brand or I suppose make them in Central or South America.

With SEAT reduced or out the way and Volkeswagen and Audi too expensive then anything of possible to compete with other cars made in Eastern Europe, Turkey or Asia.

They will make it if it makes economic sense ie could they get another 2 or 3K for it compared to VRS and not damage VW or Audi Sales.

Might make it only 250 hp rather than 265 hp or so and they like to have brand pecking order even though petrol VRS is actually faster than 210 hp Golf etc as it is more aerodynamic ie lower Cd and better gearing though a couple of tenth slower as heavier of course.

If we would buy it they will make it as I would not pay £25K for a Golf GTI or £27k for an A3 2.0T etc but would pay £22K or so for a VRS R

Bloody 'ell mate, did that include all the ancillaries? turbo, manifold etc?

That was for the bare block, no ancillaries, no turbo, no manifold as I already have them from my K04 conversion. Ancillaries off my old engine were transferred on to the new motor.

There's been a lot of wishes in here so far for longitudinal powerplants in a chassis that can't support them ;)

I will have one of those too then . . . :smirk:

is the TTRS engine longitudinal?

Bigger more powerful engines (both petrol & diesel) revamped rear end ,coupe , uprated brakes, Bluetooth & MFSW available on non-dsg cars.
