vRS R How can we make Skoda build one?

Featured Replies

I'll start.

265bhp engine out of the Cupra R

Gloss Black Alloys

Proper Recaro bucket Seats

The XDS electronic diff

Manual gearbox

And I'll have mine in white and as an estate with a subtle roof spoiler :D

Steve

The VRS already has the XDS

and gloss black alloys are so passé.

Just a straight VRS with 4 wheel drive would do me but I suspect the reason they don't do it is because of competition within the VAG group.

Yup, never going to happen.

and 4wd.

If they did it i'd want:

The 2.0TSi engine with a K04 Turbo - 250ish bhp (to start with ;))

A proper mechanical diff or 4WD (XDS is carp and a gimmick in my experience of it)

DSG (and not the 7 Speed Dry Plate carp in the new Fabia vRS)

That would be it. I would then much rather they used the following:

Lighter Wheels,

Bigger brakes (but also lighter, the porsche 323mm kit for example)

Lighter Alloy Hubs

Better Suspension

Better Front and Rear ARB's.

But as already stated it will never happen. Like it or not Skoda sit's at the bottom of the VAG range (even though build quality far exceeds Seat and sometimes VW) so they will always be restricted as to what's available in the parts bin.

I agree, it will probably never happen, but if it did as a run out special....

And what do you mean black wheels are out!

Steve

Agree all of the above.

Ride height - needs to be LOW!

for me it would be this list:

lighter wheels (and an option for dark colour)

bigger brakes/4 pot caliper

proper diff

k04/ 260ish bhp ie the scirocco /golf /cupra R engine OR (really dreaming now!) the 2.5 out of the TT-RS.

stiffer ARB's, lower ride height better damping, ideally with the ACC (adaptive chassis control) that the golf gti has..

short shift

recaros

fruity exhaust

stubby roof aerial mast

lose the nasty gear knob and replace with somethign ergonomic

black mirrors

no chrome!

... but agree, its not ever going to be built - even though skoda keep teasing with their "concepts" e.g. worthersee, RS+ study etc. The aussies just did it themselves with the RS-P but sadly not actually for sale - d'oh!

Shame really as i DO think there is missing niche in the vag product range. If you want a fast estate, you've got a £20k 200ps vrs, or move up to vw and your passat r36 300PS is £35-ish, Audi S4 a few grand more etc. I really think there is room for a 25k super-vrs at 260 bhp.

4wd? No thanks not unless you live on a mountain in which case i'd have a land rover any way.. scirocco R doesn't need it so i'd avoid adding the extra weight. Power to weight is the answer!

Yep, I've been waiting a performance orientated 4wd Octavia for ages - but understand the reasons why it will probably never happen under the Skoda brand.

A 200bhp+ Diesel engine to compete with the BMW 123d engine

the 240bhp petrol unit, which will probably happen as it's only a matter of time.

Better Stance, Panoramic Roof would be good.

Otherwise the actual package is very very good for the price ie. 17.5K now for a vRS - nothing else in the VAG stable can compete

nah they could sell the k04 TFSI engine in it, with the ed30/cupra power. that way its below the opposition, but with the same tuning potential, and lower insurance groups.

I also think the XDS system is sh!te. it didnt seem any different to the normal car as far as i could tell

3 DOOR Body shell B)

I'd like either the 2.7TDi or 3.0Tdi and 4wd please. I think that 190bhp and 240bhp would be 'useful'

Lower

Stiffer with Magnetic ride

Bigger brakes

MFSW for the manual

Bluetooth as standard.

Adjustable ECU for economy and not-so-frugal

Fanks

Skoda will never do it so I built one myself :p

Fabia vRS green would be a tasty option

out of curiousity, has anyone here put a cupra/s3/ed30 engine in a VRS Octy, I realise the normal TFSI is essentially the same, but afaik the internals are slightly stronger on the S3 etc, so it would give you a good basis for further tuning? just thinking if I move jobs to somewhere close I would love to get back in a performance petrol again, and I love the practical side, so an Octy with an S3 engine would be perfect for me, plus really tunable one bit at a time!

I'll let Harry answer that ;)

just modify your own, and make a better car than the r on your own

will be more individual too!

I find the XDS very handy in the Ibiza, on the road around here it really grips around the twists. Not anywhere near as good as the ATB in the Fabia but not bad for a bit of programming.

I have an ED30 engine with a k04 turbo and other bits, running 360bhp ish. It's amazing :)

a nice supercharged R32 engine would be nice :giggle:

they did the 3.6v6 4x4 superb

couldnt they do a 3.2 4x4 octy

or steal the 4.2v8 audi engine :giggle:

couldnt they do a 3.2 4x4 octy

Already been done ;)

2.5 litre engine from the TTS

Dump the XDS electronic diff and go for a proper mechanical LSD. So much better. Single biggest thing that lets this car down IMHO.

Car also needs to lose some weight, maybe drop some sound proofing and install lightweight seats. That's your biggest performance gain right there.
