Raindrops keep falling on my........Arm!

Featured Replies

I put the clips in with the little hook to the rubber side so it dug into the rubber and stopped them falling back out - also gave them a bit of a shove up into the the rubber with a large flat ended screwdriver - they've never looked like falling out since, and with those in place the windows shut perfectly without catching. Once fitted I also left all the windows shut for about 36 hours to give it a chance for the rubber to mould / set slightly with the plastic inserted.

I put the clips in at the top about 4 inches in from the back edge of the window frame.

There should be 2 clips for each of the back ones, similar again, hook into the rubber, fitted about 4 inches from each end of the frame. Again windows open and close fine without catching once the clips are fitted.

Cheers,

Thanks Simon, the advice I was first given before I found the Heko link was to have the hooks deflector side, Will retry the hooks tomorrow. A pity they did not send instructions in English with the items as stated on the German website,

so are obviously not infallible.

Cheers

My fault, but thats what I did on the FL, and they stayed in!

Never mind, I was impatient to get it done before it rained again :)

How about the ZentimeX ones - anyone tried these?

They look OK for £25.

ZentimeX are the people selling them on Amazon - pretty sure they are Heko ones they are selling - if you enlarge the photo you can just about make out the Team Heko logo on them. I discovered them on there a few days ago just after I'd ordered from the German place.

Incidentally, your link is for a front set only. For an extra £5 this link is for the set of 4 for front and back doors:

Cheers,

I bought the 4 door set from ZentimeX. (Not currently in stock apparently) at £34 inc p&p.

Despite saying they are shipped from the UK, they came from Germany, well packaged & quick.

They are definitely Heko (a Polish firm), with instructions in German. They are TUV approved. Their own website has a video clip showing how to fit them.

They fit well, and look the part. I fitted the clips with the tag against the plastic of the deflector, and they work fine as long as you fit the clips exactly where instructed & don't do your own thing. You do need to fiddle with the trailing edge of the front ones to ensure they are pressing against the outer window rubber, or the windows think there is something obstructing them & fail to rise properly. The little plastic bags containing the clips also contain incredibly small illustrations showing where to fit the clips. Spot on, but easy to miss.

Positives:

They do deflect the airflow further out from the car, meaning you can have a window partially open without causing draughts.

You can also therefore leave windows about 40mm open in heavy rain whilst stationary without rain coming in. Seem to work ok when driving too, but I've not done much 'around town' driving in heavy rain to make a definite decision.

Negatives:

At speed, there is a noticeable increase in wind noise around the A pillar which can become a little annoying on a long journey. (There doesn't seem to be any increase attributable to the rear door deflectors)

They effectively increase the width of the A pillar, which, depending on how high you sit in the car, can create a blind spot on the drivers side of the car. You soon get used to it, but it may be a consideration.

At speed In heavy rain, the airflow no longer blows raindrops off the side windows as effectively as before.

It is more difficult to clean the windows when washing the car. You have to lower the window a bit to get to the top of the glass.

Would I buy again - not sure to be honest. Probably not, even at 30 quid but if you are a smoker (and how dare you pollute your Yeti?) the answer is probably yes!

Oh, and raindrops still fall on your arm if the window is open when you shut the door!
