Service Indicator - Advice Pls

Featured Replies

I have posted into previous threads on this topic, however I am now a tad concerned.

I had my 1st service @ 10k miles, the service warning came on @ 15k, I asked that this be set to set correctly @ 15k, whilst the car was in having the offside wing mirror replaced ( some kind muppet sped past & smashed it ).

I was told it was sorted, I am now on 19300, and the service indicator has still not appeared.

Now I know from previous information supplied here, that my Furby is on fixed service intervals, and the indicator shoud come on approx 900 miles before service is due.

WOTS GOING ON HERE

Umm...

Obvious answer is that they reset it at 15K and it will come on at 25...

Surely all you need to do is just take it in for it's 20K service and make sure they reset it properly this time?

If you are on fixed servicing, ie every 10K miles or every 12 months , then I don't think that the sevice light comes on .

As you had your first service at 10K miles , and your service light came on at 15K miles , I reckon your car was actually set up for variable servicing .

Pete, it's a Fabia vRS.

Variable no possible say inscruitable Mr Skoda :)

Ive now done 33k miles and not seen a service indicator  (should i get it serviced now? ;) )

Funnily enough, I hit the 15k milestone today and a spanner then appeared with the word 'OIL' flashing away for 5 mins. Serviced at 10k per schedule. Checked the oil..ok, so I assume that's the service reminder. If so I think I'll leave it flashing until the next service, and get them to reset it then..save all this fannying around with it coming on early. Pain in the bum if you ask me.

Think Skoda must presume we can't read a mileometer.

Ok Geoff ..............then why didn't the service indicator light come until 15K .........?

I know nothing about Fabia vRS sevice schedules .................don't know much about Octy vRS service schedules ............. :D

Not a clue Pete, but there seems to be a few Furby's coming up with service reminders at odd mileages.

Remnant of the Variable program in the ECU perhaps?

Apparently it's short of a sensor or 2 for the proper variable whatsit...

Ok Geoff ..............then why didn't the service indicator light come until 15K .........?

Correct, and why didn't mine too? Feel a bit of rummaging comin' on tomorrow for some black insulating tape. Flamin' numpty alerts.

Did yours flash the word 'OIL' too Steve...or anyone else for that matter?

18800 miles no service light. Was told the furby vRS's don't have service lights:confused:

It's not a light as such, just a stupid black spanner and word in my case.

check the manual it tells you how to reset the service /oil warning light its very easy to do

my service light came on 2 months early, as i do very few miles i had only reached 5000 miles when my light came on it was the inspection warning that came on at 10 mths instead of 12, i believe it wasnt reset during the pdi check, i just reset it myself so the warning didnt annoy me and when i booked it in at 12 mths for its annual service i asked them to reset it again so it would come on every 12 mths

Yes, did get OIL & spanner, I then did wot you did, checked the oil.

My Octy did OIL & Spanner @ 1500 miles before service , then found from the dealer, it had been set @ the factory for KM,s, they reset it @ first service to correct MILES.
