Yeti - Another Amazing Secret Revealed

Featured Replies

Yes - another "thing" that the YETI does... ... ...

With the nights drawing in, and the fires being lit, and driving in the gloaming (an ancient Scottish term for 'dusk') requiring lights to be on, I have discovered a hitherto unrecognised feature of our beloved, amazing, YETIs.

Yes folks, never seen before, it quite took my breath away, so unexpected was it.

There was I meandering peacefully along a B road, minding my own business, gazing at the cattle in the fields, pondering on what to cook for dinner as the sun slowly sank further behind the hills, casting ever lengthening shadows on the landscape as it unfolded before me in the reducing light of day...

The YETI brain reckoned it was time to fire up the system to assist my view of the road ahead, and, having done the "Dance of the Bi-Xenon Bulbs" when I'd got in 20 minutes before, it merely lit my route, unobtrusively, competently and thoroughly, allowing me to negotiate the curves and bends and twists of the rural roadway.

I marvelled at the way the fogs came on as I twisted the wheel left and then right, following my every manipulation, hurrying home to my - er - beans on toast that would be mine for tonight....

When SUDDENLY, and without ANY WARNING, I noticed SOMETHING ELSE.

The road was straight, gloomy, but lit by my trusty YETI; my turning ahead onto a mysterious and narrow C road loomed; I flicked on my indicators to indicate my intention to turn left.. .. ... ..

AND THE LEFT FOGLIGHT LIT ITSELF UP WITHOUT THE WHEEL BEING TURNED!!!!

Spooky - or what? I tested this. I repeatedly drove straight. I indicated left, then right. and the relevant foglight insisted on obeying, to light my intended route.

Even, when I was on a left corner, and I indicated right (ooooh to fool this car) the RIGHT fog was lit.

So there we have it. I didn't know my YETI did this. I am amazed. Impressed. Chuffed. And I will enjoy playing with it - until I get bored.

Go play, YETI-folk.

:giggle::rofl::giggle::rofl: of course you got your Monster in the spring, lights and corner fog are probably new to you :giggle: try putting her in reverse with the lights on and you will get both front fogs come on together to help you go backwards

One of my favourite  options and I only opted for them as I was curious to know what they were all about, wife's got them on her new Fabia too although sadly I couldn't stretch the funds to dancing lights as well :(

Surely the fogs dont come on every time you turn a corner ?? I know they do corner function but thought you would have to turn them on ??

Yes, the foglight on one corner of the car comes on when turning the wheel, my Superb also does does the same. Also when you select reverse gear both fogs come on.

So anytime your lights are on in the dark and you turn a corner that fog comes on ?? Isnt that going to irritate the hell out of a lot of oncoming drivers ?

They only operate up to a speed of 24mph (40km/h), above that speed and the function is deactivated. This is in line with the European directive on the use of corner fog lights.

Ahh now that makes more sense, thought it odd if they just came on all the time you cornered.

You should write a manual about the beast Mr TP it seems every query you know the answer to lol !!

One "secret" that's possibly in the audio manual - but I've just only noticed today.

If you "mute" when playing media it automatically pauses - very clever !!

I always found the centre arm rest was too low and so to overcome that I would place a towel folded up onto it to get the correct height. I had to get something out of the jumbo box yesterday and when I returned the arm rest to a horizontal position it locked in a higher position. I though that something was jammed but there was nothing there. I have played around today and I keep repeating it. So......you can set the arm rest to two different heights. Good stuff.

I noticed on Saturday, (after taking a feed from the battery and, because the cable was fed out of the bonnet, I didn't close the lid completely), the windscreen wipers won't work unless the bonnet is completely closed!

(I panicked because I thought I'd broken something at first! :-)

Ah that is good to know! I checked the manual and it states there is in fact FOUR positions?

Setting height

First of all fold the lid to the bottom and lift it in the direction of arrow into one of the 4 fixed positions.

Now that I changed my order to a non-rowing DSG car I think I will use this armrest a lot more than if I had to row my own gears. I hope at least one of these four positions are of use!

4 positions, and it was in the manual all along! Blimey, we will be in trouble now

Norty boy!! :giggle:

Same thing with the rear wiper, if the boot is not completely closed, the wiper will not move.

When you lock the car and all the doors and bonnet are not completely shut the indicators won't flash either. So the car gives you a visual clue that you need to check all the doors.

I use this all the time, and there are infinite positions as the end also slides out.

On the motorway I run with in its top position and slid forward for max comfort. Off the motorway I usually at least pull the end in, but often lower it as well to easy gearchanges and give better parking brake access

And yet(i) another:

If all the doors are not properly shut, the keyfob door lock will not work.

and.......

if you unlock the doors with the keyfob and do not enter the car within about 60 seconds, it locks itself again.

Next.......................... :p

So you lift the lid to one of its 4 positions but do you then pull it forward to lengthen the armrest ?

Yes, the padded part slides forward over the brake lever area

Ye gods! Nobody here is going to believe how long it took me to figure out how to get the lid to lock into position!

I tried pulling it up from the rear, pulling it from the front, grabbing the sides and even reading the manual! It still wouldn't lock in position. I was beginning to think this was an option that I didn't have on my SM when my wife simply lifted it up and it clicked into place.

Now I have to wash the dishes every day for a week!

Watch the self locking bit:-

There is a story about the Octavia (somewhere, I can't find right now) of someone opening the rear door of the car, throwing the keys onto the front seat and putting the baby in the back in a child seat. Shut rear door and return to house to fetch something else - and hearing the car lock itself with the baby and the only set of keys inside.

Panick!

Might be the same on the Yeti.

(You will be pleased to know the baby went to sleep and was unharmed.) :)
