Black Magic Pearl

My new Superb Estate 4x4 in Black Pearl arrives soon.

Can anyone give me a few tips on waxing straight out of the showroom.

What are the best waxes for black.

Also protecting the alloys from new. Thanks, Phil emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I use Zaino sealant most of the time (Z2 followed by z6, z8)but FK1000p also does a very good job and is good on wheels as well , also optiseal is very good on wheels and less effort

Don't wash it in direct sunlight, use two buckets to wash it, use micro fibre cloth to dry it, polish it on dull days.

I called down the road to see the guys at Clean Your Car in Slaithwaite.

I went for CarLack 68 and Collinite 915. Phil emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Hi guys -

As I'm new to this cleaning malarky, and I also have a new Black Magic Superb, I thought I would try this out. I take it the order is:

i) Wash car

ii) Apply Carlack

iii) Apply Collinite ?

If so, does step i) require any specific cleaning products, or will any do?

Thanks a bunch,

Andrew.

My usual method is

1) power wash car

2) Shampoo Meguirs gold class shampoo and nice microfibre mit

3) Dry car using decent drying towel not chamois

4) polish car using Autoglym SRP but i usually use Dodo juice lime prime

5) Wax car two coats with a decent wax the Colli or something else if you have it Or the Sealant (Carlack 68) but not both

6) Finish with a quick detailer like Dodo juice red mist , Zaino z8 or Megs last touch

Wheels i use Bilberry wheel cleaner or Espuma, then "wax" with Rimwax or Optiseal

Glass I use Mr Muscle or a 50/50 mix of isoproponal alchohol and water

Tyres i use Swissvax pneu

Interior i use Zaino z10 on the leather and just a damp cloth on everything else can use the stuff below if need be

Under the bonnet plastics i use Aerospace 303 protectant

They are very nice when they are clean but Black is hard to keep that way, used to wash my Oct'y twice a week.

Thanks for the info. I have bought a batch of cleaning products (from CleanYourCar), will be trying them out this weekend!

If the surface is well waxed most of the dirt will wash off with the rain

It will wash off in the rain on the top of the car, as long as the rain is clean, which it often isn't.

It will not wash off in the rain down around the lower sides of the car.

My steel grey superb with mudflaps still picks up dirt here in wet weather, wax or no wax. On that colour it is not so obvious.

I used to have a midnight blue car before the superb. Even though well waxed, it got very dirty on the lower sides and had to be washed frequently.

My car is up and down the motorway all day does around 100miles per day , was last washed two weeks ago and still looks peachy , in fact in the winter i rarely wash the car just power wash and snowfoam it and that takes the dirt off without touching it
