skoda have added 3 months to my order! Update Page 2

Ask the dealer to look around the Skoda ordering system, its possible that a car of simillar spec maybe in the system already thats possibly someone elses cancelled order.

I actually had another look round and even test drove some likely candidates. Couldn't find anything else that compared for anything like the money. I think they know this :(

For the record I'm waiting for a diesel DSG - apparently these will be the longest wait (but it's only a dealer telling me that).

I know, there isn't much competition really! I quite like the look of the Mazda 6 Sport, but I havn't driven one yet. Nearly new / ex-demo prices on the vRS are silly - more than DTD prices, which is seriously putting me off.

I'm just pretty annoyed as the car should have been here in 6 weeks, now it stands at another five months.

I shall certainly ask - but I guess slots like this are snapped up pretty quickly. The dealer should be ringing me back tomorrow with some answers, but I won't hold my breath - I've had to do all of the chasing so far, they're beginning to annoy me with the lack of communication.

Update:

My company have cancelled the order as it wasnt going to be here anytime soon!

The dealer does have in stock their old demonstrator which will be with me today or tomorrow. It's the same spec as I had ordered with the addition of parking sensors. Can't wait!

So there's a vRS being built that you don't want any more. Please form an orderly queue...... :D

There was a major flood in CZ which has affected the supplies to the factory of some components.

You know, I'd be a lot happier if Skoda sent me a letter that said "Sorry chaps, there's been a flood and this has unfortunately pushed your build back - we're doing all we can and will throw in a free set of fluffy dice as a gesture of our regret." But that's absolutely not what's happening. Silence from Skoda and a patchy response from dealers. It's almost like they know we will buy their cars no matter what.

Jonathan-

There is a race blue vRS diesel on order, five months off production at Autosales in Bilston if anyone is interested...

I think your spot in what your saying about Skodas silence and poor information. I don't think they are doing their dealers any favours - they couldn't even begin to explain why my order had jumped back 12 weeks

My build week has gone from 34 to 37 to 44, i only found out as I rang Silbury today, not to happy about that. I can live with the changes, i just need to know about it!

That means it will have taken about 21/22 weeks to build and get delievered.

the other annoying thing about this wait is trying to enthuse about the cars to other people.

I'm happy to recommend my friends get themselves a Skoda, but would feel guilty if I didn't tell them about the long wait they would have to put up with. Who wants to wait half a year between ordering a car and getting your hands on it ?

My car was scheduled to built after the flood so I kept an eye on the story. From the news reports production was only stopped for 4 days (including a weekend) and there was no apparent impact on the delivery date of my car.

Hi

Ordered a new 0ctavia Scout 1st June with a few extras. just been contacted and advised by the dealer that it looks like a January delivery :( :(

There really is no sense to it.

I ordered a Scout in July was told late September/early October delivery, which went to December, then February and totally out of the blue it's now confirmed as being built this week.

Must admit at February delivery I was going to cancel it as Skoda UK refused to put it in writing that they would honour the quoted price. Happy to do it verbally but point blank refused to put it in writing. They also told me if the car was delivered to the dealer in Feb it would be registered on a 60 plate. They would not allow me to collect it 1st March on an 11 plate.

The dealer has been fantastic but Skoda UK deliberately difficult.

Have you queried price with them? ie; the original agreed price or the price plus VAT at prevailing rate?

Not long spoken to the dealer about my company vRS - it was down as provisional build week 43 (last week in October), ordered 10th August. So it should have been here late November.

The dealer says the system now says build week three so delivery some time in feb!

First post :)

I ordered a diesel vrs (no dsg) on 15th July. Was quoted 16 week wait, talked to dealer last week and apparently it's being built this week so 16 weeks was about right.

Sounds like they forgot to order your car to me, and only did it after you asked them.

Not really, you have forgot the approx 3 weeks from the car being built to being ready to collect/deliver from the dealers.

July 15th + 16 weeks = November 4th.

If it's being built this week and you then add 3 weeks to that then you get something like the week starting November the 1st. That sounds pretty close to 16 weeks to me.

I ordered my Elegance 140 CR in May. It was at the dealers mid Aug. InitIal paperwork had it as a 59, but the dealer was happy to defer until Sept to put it on a 60, possibly because I anticipated that one when I placed the order. Don't think Skoda UK had any influence on that.

But when questioning Skoda Happy Driver Services over the lack of rear tinted windows, after accepting the point I then got a right snotty defensive phone call from one of their call centre drones, clearly given no latitude to resolve the issue, and ended up saying that even though it was an explicit catalogue description, I'd need to pursue the dealer. So, I'd agree that Skoda UK are pants - and told them I'd make sure I'd be alerting prospective customers of their unhelpful attitude via this website. So that's now done. The lack of tint is a minor issue but, hey, it's in the catalogue, and simply due to their snottiness, I'm definitely going to take it further now.

And before I ended their call, I put in a word for all you folks still waiting out there that their customers don't appreciate silence or Good Stiff Ignorings when long delivery delays occur.

Fairy snuff, I didn't actually count the weeks

Although I should of realised easily enough as mine was ordered at the end of June and I was initially told 14 - 16 weeks, making it mid October, which is now mid - end November .... December .... or whenever!

no problem - I'm just glad to be one of the lucky ones :)

Mean Mr Mustard, did you see our responses on the Other thread explaining the difference between what is listed as tinted windows as standard, and the much darker "Sunset Glass" which is an expensive extra ?

Indeed. If you ever see a car without 'tinted' windows these days they look odd. Very odd. Nearly every cars has tints.

Sunset or Privacy Glass is a different thing altogether.

Whilst we are on the subject of the sunset glass, does anybody know what percentage the tint is? (or is it the percentage of light that still passes through?)

I have a meeting arranged with the sales manager Wed next week. Prefer to talk face to face than via telephone. The original deal was V.A.T. free and I parted with a £500 deposit I don't mind the wait as long as the agreed trade in value remains.

I am hopeful of the outcome and will post then

Widsy,

I have had a meeting with my retailer manager. He is meeting Skoda next week to raise my case. I will wait for my car as long as it is at the agreed June 2010 price. I will post then too. emoticon-0145-shake.gif

I Ordered my new Diesel VRS in race blue with full VRS leather and DSG gearbox on 29th June.

I was initially quoted 12 weeks by the dealer which meant a delivery in Week 39. I've just been off the phone with Skoda Uk and they have told me that my car was build last week and is currently waiting at Emden for transport. It should be with me in 2 - 3 weeks, but maybe longer as I'm in Northern Ireland.

Ordered 29th June - week 26

Built - Week 39

Delivered - Week 43 (apparantly)

Thats 17 weeks from order to Delivery, so looks like I'll miss on out any delivery compensation as they have moved it to 18 weeks now. :-(

Hope you enjoy the car. You are one of the lucky ones. There are many like me who still wait, knowing not what is going to happen. ie:

Ordered week 25

Built - who knows?

Delivery - anyone's guess

Skoda UK's attitude - be grateful because we may give you a massive £150
