What sort of milage do you do?

Featured Replies

Hi all!

Im thinking of getting VRS in the near future.

I currently have a Golf VR6 and its not cutting the mustard in the economy stakes as I now have an 80 mile round trip to work.

So do you think the VRS is suited to big milages?

What sort of milages do you lot do?

I want the VRS as I like the styling and I would probaly mod it a bit.

Plus I like to be different (in a good way)

Scott

Octavia or Fabia? Fabia is obviously more suited to longer distances as it has better economy, but coming from a golf VR6, you may appreciate the octavia more. ;)

Standing by to move this thread from the Fabia to the Octavia forum....

ok, smarty pants! I just saw it was in the Fabia forum... :o

Fabia is good being a TDI - probably double the economy of a VR6 I reckon?

I have done 3k in 1 month, and will probably do about 16k this year. I wont try to convince you to buy one but a custom remapped one on here recently got 197 bhp, now considering it only weighs in at 1315, your looking at a realistic sub 7 second 0-60 time with 50mpg +

i have done over 5 k now in 3 months

its a diesel so it should be good for mileage! I've had mine since may 04 and its covered 15.5k with it being off road for a month (personal issue not car)

averages atleast 48mpg best so far is 58.6 :D

Hi scott8629

Picked up a Octy vRS estate last christmas and in just over a year...done 43,000 miles :D but thats a bit low - in a normal year would be nearer 50,000miles! :)

I would like a Fabia.

I have not had a look around one before, but I seem to remember one one forum someboby said the Fabia and the MK3 Golf were nearly the same size, dont know how true this is.

The fuel economy of the derv does attract me as im only getting about 280 miles/tank on the old VR6 (that is taking it easy).

I would prefer to get a year old model as I hated taking the first year deperciation hit when I bought my Clio Cup brand new, however as I have been reading it seems the Fabia does not take that much of a hit.

How much do you think I should pay for a year old model?

Scott

I don't do as many miles as scrutineer, but my Fabia TDI (not a vRS) has done 116,900 miles in 3 years. Lots of these are on a long commute (100 miles round trip), but it seems to have no trouble with long journeys - I can drive for hours and I'm still comfortable (which can't be said for every car) so the driving position/seats work for me (although I guess the vRS may have different seats?)

The 100 bhp engine in mine easily keeps up with traffic - but that's hardly going to be a problem in a vRS anyway. :D

Used to get 56-57 mpg when new, probably nearer 53-54 now, but still pretty respectable.

I've needed rescuing twice in the last month by those nice AA people though, so it's not faultless.

I think all vRS Fabia's are holding their value really well at the moment. You may find a 53 reg one with 10K on the clock for 9.5K if you're lucky, normally 10K I think. Demand is outstripping supply and keeping prices up. ;)

Ive got a Fabia vrs which is a september 03 model.. ive covered 33k miles so far (31 of them in a yr) and had no problems whatsoever. my average fuel consumption over the milage is prob around 48mpg.. altho that includes trackdays and other extreme ragging :D

Looks like it's going to be 20-23 thousand for it's first year.

Should plummet dramatically when Mrs C.J. has to start using it....doesn't get out of 2nd gear most of the time.

I was thinking about 10K GBP for one.

I will try and sell the Golf private as I have a 200 quid banger to fall back on for a few weeks.

Best sort myself a loan out!

10K should be OK I reckon, just be aware of the usual second hand car thingies ;) Although I doubt you'd be disappointed. :D

Bloody hell, I thought I was bad. I've done 14,500 miles in the 9 months I've had mine, but some of you guys have done some insane mileages!

Got my Octy on 1st Sept '03 and its now showing 34K,and that includes 10 weeks away in the USA and 9 weeks 4 days without it while it was getting fixed after hitting a deer.

not had any problems so far(Touch wood/Finger crossed).

average MPG since re-map and all the other bits going on 30-32mpg running it on Shell Optimax so not great but i love the Octy so can live with it.

My Oct 03 1.4TDI Fabia has just covered 32,000 (30,000 since I got it in Feb 04) Car has been faultless and returns 55 - 65mpg. I agree in avoiding the initial depreciation I got

Really looking forward to it now.

I cant wait to see that MPG computer to say 55MPG instead of 25MPG!

What on average miles do you lot get out of 20 quid?

Scott

Bought mine with 2 miles on the clock on 27/2/04, just clicked over 42,000 on the clock :grumpy:

About 200.

I've done 15.5k since 4/3/04 which I thought was a lot. Definitely not fault free, but the things which have gone wrong were fairly cheap to get fixed :)
