Hey... not been around for a while... but i traded from a `94 Golf VR6 to a `04 Fabia V/RS in August last year..... I do the similar mileage too.. 70 miles round trip for work... and getting close to an average of 22-25k per year.

I love the Fabia, it pulls well, different to driving the VR6 tho, so have a test drive and see if it suits you.... but remember to put your foot down in second at lowish revs to feel the full affect of the turbo and the torque.... still makes me smile...

the cost saving over the VR6 is massive too, 30mpg (as all motorway mileage) in the VR6 compared to 50mpg out of the Fabia... then no need to get 6 spark plugs every other service etc etc..... that saving is paying for my finance!

Scott have you thought about an Octy TDI 130 ?? Same engine as the Fabia vRS in a bigger car, once chipped it will be rapid.

Since March 03 the Octy Diesel has done about 62000 & the 4x4 has done 37500 in the same period, thats a total of about 100000 in 22 Months

The diesel averages about 54 mpg & is on variable services so serviced at 28 & 56000,

The 4x4 averages about 25 mpg & a big

However I think the 4x4 will eventually be replaced by a Diesel once I grow up & dont need the fun.

Mine has 24,000 on the clock and it's just over a year old. Diesels are great for big mileages. They go on forever if looked after.

i've done 10500 miles on my Sept 2004 vRS, returning on average 360 - 400 miles off

my mother has an x reg(2000) polo16v (1.4 100bhp quite tasty).

She has done 4000 (four thousand) miles in nearly 5 years!!!! seems to bugger cars up when you do so few miles (brakes etc). anyone done less than this?

My round journey for a day just to work not counting any travel required whilst at work is 125miles a day. Had a Honda before and the amount of traveling is the main reason I went for a diesel and best one I found was the Fabia and decided to go for the Vrs
