What are good batteries? Or Battery since I only need one...

SWMBO came in last night and said I tried to move your car but it just went click...now mid bio break this was slightly confusing, it turns out that the cold and having not moved for 2 weeks has taken it's toll. It had been run flat before by accident, so has now bitten the bullet in the cold.

12V lead acid one is usually the best for a car.

Colin, several choices:

Halfords do 2 different ones - normal and heavy duty

Your dealer will do them

Demon Tweeks do some heavy duty ones

All the usual places - ATS, Kwikbodge etc etc will do them

Don't do it yourself as some waste disposal places (well, near me anyway) will actually charge you for disposal of the old one

Got a Halfords one for the AX last year. Still OK. 3yr warranty on it IIR.

Local tip that I socialise at on a regular basis take old batteries for disposal FOC.

I remember when the scrappy would give you 50p for them.

Disposal is free :)

Helps having an old man that tinkers with steel and machines.

Thanks William, I'll be asking where the bonnet catch is soon.

Sorry Col, couldn't resist. Did you find out who has been changing my avatar. Perhaps a PM..............

have you tried just charging it? and no that isn't a stupid answer. when i bought the nova it hadn't moved for a few months and battery was fooked, charged it and drove it for ages, charged it some more and it has been fine since. the same thing happened on my 4x4 when it was being fixed, the dealer told methe battery was knackered and wouldn't hold a charge. they had charged it for about 12 hours and it wouldn't even start the car, so they jumped it from another car and i did the same as my nova, just drove it for ages, nice long runs and its been fine since.

Do between 1 and 2k miles a month, car has sat for 2 weeks with no activity, so I suspect it won't hold, then again will it sit for such a period again in the cold, I suspect not.

Didn't know what el cheapo batteries were like, upgraded other things, battery mod would be nice...can't I get one that glows or somthing?

Maybe a 1.5V Lith ion one would glow in series?

If you want to do a mod in this dept Col., have a look at the gel batteries that 'Tweeks sell.

Very expensive...

...I'm not concerned over weight...yet ;) Maybe in 12months when she's nearing the knackers yard.

Hey, enough about Clare, can we get back to the batteries please..... :D

Do Exide still do Torque Starters? If so I would recommend one of those.

Sony AA's - 8 for a

Nearly 3 weeks ago I used my octy for the 1st time in 3 weeks, started 1st time. This is on a car that is 3 1/2 years old, and with the alarm system armed and stereo etc all connected and on. Only drove it 4 miles and put it away again. Octy will be coming out again at the weekend, once more after 3 weeks and I suspect and hope it will start 1st time once more.
