Fabia vRS standard spec help please

Featured Replies

There are a few copies of old UK Fabia brochures on this thread (I remember because I posted some of them): http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/99352-fabia-6y-electronic-brochures/

This should give some idea of the UK specs at various times, if you're still looking for more info.

Thanks for that link - it's filled in a hole or two in my collection...

Now who has an SE one - hard and soft please?

The other problem with imported cars is resale. When I traded in my Impreza Turbo, the Land Rover dealer advised he wouldn't have taken it had it been an import. Again this is less likely with a Motorpoint type import when new but something to consider.

I think that's the main difference here, the insurance company will only be bothered if they have to pay out, cos then it'll be worth less.

Ok, I've just come off the phone with Admiral insurance and spoke to a very helpful gentleman in India. Somehow the guy I spoke to was the supervisor and the initial lady who answered the call passed me onto him. I explained the situation of the car (PDI in malta, sold in UK, UK registered all RHD, correct direction lights et al) and he said that in his opinion the car was seen as a UK car and that it shouldn't be a problem as it was a car Skoda sold in the UK. He made a note on the policy and told me to call back if there was anything on the V5 (when it arrives) that stated any different than it was a car sold new in the UK. Apart from that he was going to make a note on my policy about what we spoke about and that all would be fine with no problems.

Thanks for all your advice guys, and for the excellent information given.

Thanks for letting us know the outcome. Interesting for similar cases in the future.

I purchased my previous car from Motorpoint (55 Mazda 3). It was imported from Cyprus and pre-registered with about 100 miles on the clock, maybe less. First thing I did was confirm with a main dealer that they would be able to maintain the vehicle under a UK warranty for a Euro spec car, they said no. I contacted Mazda UK asking why not, they replied with a letter stating that their warranties covered the whole of Europe, all cars a built to the same standard. From then on I had no problem getting it looked after by the dealer. When I took out insurance on the car I told the insurers is was an import but I had letter of conformity from Mazda UK, there was no extra cost, they deal with the like of Motorpoint every day and are used to insuring the cars.

I saved £1000s on the cost of purchasing a new car from a dealer. As far as spec differences went...

My car didnt have

- rear spolier

My car did have

- Leather steering wheel & gear knob, better seats, better interior trim features, front foglights, bigger alloys

So all in all I was happy to loose out on the spoiler as I could buy and fit one for £100 quid or so.

I guess you gain on some cars and loose out on others, but my experience of Motorpoint was fine, in fact the Mazda was my 2nd purchase from them.
