Removing door lock cylinder

Featured Replies

Ok, there seem to be few topics but..

Yesterday i was trying to get my drivers door lock out for a possible fix , problem is that key won't go in all the way. duh.

According to Haynes, I removed upper torx, and dropped it inside door, ofcourse. Loosened lower one, but cylinder won't move anywhere.

Haynes says that you should put your key in and turn it counterclockwise, and pull. Is that important, will it release something or just a easier way to pull it out?

you do need to be able to turn the key to get it out, try spraying a little bit of wd40 into the lock and work the key backa and fore.

Done that few times... sounds like i have problem. Is there any other way?

edit: when putting key in hole, it stops like in the wall. A little metallic 'lid' can be seen inside, wich i think is the problem. Maybe it's bend or something

how far in does the key go?

about half way in..

I have the exact same problem on my Skoda octavia mk2 2005, like THE EXACT Same! Key goes about half way in, no way to turn the key, it would probably work if i could just get the key in there.

Loosened the screws, lost the upper one inside ofc.

Did you figure out the problem?

It would be wise to post in the MK2 section if that is what you have. 👍🏻

10 points for bumping a 10 year old topic. 🤣

Haha, yeah. Just stumbled upon this one. Probably pretty similar issue, so if he found the answer it would probably be the same as mine.
