Motorcyclists %$*!"

Featured Replies

Driving in the outside of a dual carriageway (as cars parked in insided lane) with a motorcyclist behind - as I came to the end of the parked cars I indicated I wanted to move into the inside lane - at the same time the motorcyclist decided to try and squeeze through and undertake me - I halted my manouevre as I'd clocked him but the pr1ck still drew alongside me, drew me a dirty look and sped off into the distance well in excess of the speed limit.

As a motorcyclist have to agree that was a dumb-ass move by the biker :wall:

Glad you were switched on enough to spot them. :whew:

We're not all winkers though honest :)

dont tar them all with that brush buddy just as many ****er car drivers as bike riders on the road

p.s well done for spotting him

Sorry chaps - I know there are a lot of decent motorcyclists out there. Posted immediately upon arriving (now edited to a more reasonable and moderate version) - still raging - have mellowed out now B) . You get just as many a***hole car drivers.

No worries - any idiot who puts their life at risk and in so doing endangers others deserves a barracking.

Glad you're feeling calmer now though. I'm sure I would have had a similar rant .

I had an audi drive into the back of my car last week - but have to admit I was relieved I wasn't on the bike - might not have faired so well

Have to agree there are a fair few dodgy car drivers too.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your evening. :)

Glad this forum exists - cheaper than therapy :p - feel much better now I've had a good rant.

I am a biker and i rider everyday all year round whatever the weather and that guy is a prize knob. There are a few idiot riders out there just like idiot cagers.

Like Gallego, I'm an all-weather biker who does as many bike miles as car miles and agree that on what you say he's an idiot.

But, on a point of order, people often call moped riders 'bikers', but they are an alien species to us. We can smash a car's mirror then ride off and never be caught up; they can't......

It is funny seeing moped riders in full one piece leathers though ;)

I definitely agree that there are bad motorcyclist and bad drivers although I guess we're used to the bad drivers as we get them all the time whereas many of the idiot motorcyclists are the ones taking their sports bikes out on a sunny afternoon during the summer. I was driving up to see a friend in the Octavia and left a roundabout to go onto a fairly steep climb across a suspension bridge which was a 70mph NSL, usually there's quite a few vehicles crawling up the bridge at 40mph or less as there was this time so I sat in the overtaking lane to get past them. I had two bikers sitting right behind me, one almost on my bumper obviously not happy that I wouldn't pull over to let them by however I didn't see why I should drop right down to 40mph into the slow queue just to let them by so I carried on. Braking was a little tricky as I had to be very gentle knowing that any sudden braking and I'd have a bike through the rear of my car, eventually there was a gap I could move into and keep my speed which I did so letting the bikers by who went rocketting off. Sadly the unmarked car which is usually two corners away wasn't there that day.

Another time I was driving down the west side of Loch Ness which is a very tight and twisty road which is exceptionally dangerous, the surface is quite broken up in some areas and you never know what you're gong to hit coming round the tight corners. One time I'd been there previously and a car had clipped the bank sometime before and kicked a load of gravel and stones across the road which hadn't been cleared up, when the car hit it I kept my grip thanks to four big tyres and traction control. Anyway, one time I saw a biker on a GSX-R 750 or similar absolutely hammering up this road leaning right over on the corners and I just wondered how long it would be before someone would be scraping his remains off the road or from the rocky drop to the side.

I am a motorcyclist and I genuinely think it's made me a better car driver because once you have that feeling of being incredibly vulnerable it does make you far more alert to everything around you. Clearly it doesn't work for some people though.

IMO: His suspicion would have been that you tried to block him or worry him out of his undertake, hence the frown or dirty look. In reality it's a coincidence, you both decided to act at the same time.

Slightly OT, why do cyclists ride side by side and block half the carriageway and then wonder why people get fed up with them when they eventually get past ?

Because they are ignorant , I am a cyclist and if out with a mate on a quiet country road we ride side by side but if the road is narrow or busy we go in single file as soon as we here someone approaching

This was an A road and they were pretty p-d off. Not rocket science really.

Do you mean Moped as defined by law, or are you referring to scooters?

Most bikers see any scooter as a moped, I ride a 400cc scooter capable of nearly 100mph and I use it for touring abroad etc... I get many derisory comments from uneducated bikers who see anything that doesnt look like a crotch rocket as a moped :giggle:

I dont know many bikers who would contemplate doing 700 miles on their machines in a day though

700 miles sounds fab - I wouldn't get anywhere near that on the gladius before my wrists felt like they were about to snap :(

Did have a go on my sister's scooter once - but ( and I know this sounds pathetic), I couldn't work out how to steer it !

First right hand corner I took, was less than pretty to say the least.

:giggle: They do steer differently than bikes, low centre of gravity so they turn in quicker and I think easier. I quite like the Gladius, its different but definately styled for girls... youd have to be pretty brave to own one as a bloke, or big enough so that no one takes the mick!

Whilst the Gladius is a fine development I feel they would have sold a lot

more if they had named it Gladiator :)

Slightly on topic but not really, it's interesting how people often do see one biker do something silly and say 'bloody bikers' but not 'bloody car drivers' when a 4 wheeler does something silly.

On a Recent germany trip did a few 10 hour rides with pillion and luggage and couldn't wait to get back on the day after! :D :D :D

Yes I agree - although they stopped making the pink one. They do though still have different panels you can buy to snap on, to change the look. I think the dealer thought I was serious when I suggested I might get a selection so that I could co-ordinate with my handbags :giggle:
