Nokia phone cradle

Featured Replies

Hey guys. Car I'm buying has a Nokia phone cradle, standard tall size (for the 6310 type phone). I do have one as a nostalgic phone, but don't want to have to keep changing the sim as it isn't my main phone.

So, what are my options? Can I change the cradle? I use a Sony Ericsson X10. I don't expect an exact cradle, but are there any generic ones?

Or is it more than just changing the cradle?

Ps, I don't know if it works yet! I co assuming it is linked in with the stereo?

Cheers

I think by cable/craddle the Nokia kits only work with Nokia phones.

How ever, the car kit may be bluetooth, but unless you have the nokia "control" button visible too, it wont be a lot of use as you'd have to end the call from the handset.

the button looks like this:

I have a Nokia bluetooth kit and if you plug a Nokia cradle into it, it disables the bluetooth. Try upluging the cradle from the control box (which is probably behind the glove box) and see if bluetooth suddenly appears.

I would recommend a brodit cradle for your main phone as a replacement - you can get either plain cradles or oness that charge and these can either be by the fag lighter socket or wired in.

Try http://www.handnav.co.uk/ and www.brodit.se

Aer you sure about that?

I have a CK-7W. I disconnected the craddle a long time ago, but I'm sure that I had the craddle and bluetooth working at the same time (but it prefered the craddle, disconnecting a bluetooth phone if you put a phone in the craddle - however, if there was no phone in the craddle, I'm sure it worked for bluetooth).

EDIT: In fact I just googled and found the manual for the CK-7W

If a mobile phone is inserted into a phone holder connected to the

Advanced Car Kit via the data cable, this phone is the active device and

you will not be able to establish a connection to any device via

Bluetooth wireless technology. Inserting a mobile phone that is

currently involved in an active Bluetooth wireless connection into a

phone holder connected to the Advanced Car Kit will cause the

Bluetooth wireless connection to be terminated automatically.

Actually that was my bosses Nokia kit, not mine. I have never had a cradle on mine.

My boss got a new phone and the bluetooth on the car kit didn't work until the cradle was unplugged. He has had a fair while so it might be an earlier version.

Ok, thanks a lot guys.

Very little i can do until i get the car. But, what's the quickest (and least disruptive!) way to tell which car kit I actually have? I am assuming the cradle is not a giveaway as it looks similar to many a cradle i've seen for years (I first had a compatible phone when it first came out - the nokia 6110 - in 1997. One of the best phone made in its time and for a long time after!)

Sorry for the premature queries....just getting excited about my Superb!

I'm not sure there really is....

My CK-7W shows itself as a Ck7W when you try to pair against it, but the craddle was interchangable anyway, so the craddle won't tell you anything.

So, if it's not bluetoothed, then finding the kit (which is possile behind the glovebox) may be the only option

If this is the case, is it 'always available' for searches? As I've tried to do a search from my phone whilst in the car, but nothing found.....

When you say behind the glove compartments, you mean having to take it out? Or can I see it from the engine area if I look 'behind the glove compartment'?

Thanks

I've just searched for the Noika 6310 and it show this in a CarK91 kit - i had one of these and it wasn't bt enabled.

The CK7W can be wired to turn off with the ignition, so may not always be available to scan (but quite often they're permanently live)

(and yes, unfortunately i meant take the glovebox out - but in an Octavia it's only 4 or 5 screws)

Ok guys, further update.

I found my 6310i which is a very sexy phone. I also have a spare sim card, do I just plug my nokia into the cradle and divert my main phone to it, while I'm driving. Perfect.

Works perfectly. Sound comes though beautifully through the stereo. I'm very happy.

Thanks for all your help.
