Glovebox Lid rattling

Featured Replies

Hi, on long motorway trips (70-80mph) i can hear the lid rattling like crazy....

It seems the rattling is coming from the far edge where the lid meets the door....is it a common problem???

Cheers

Hi

I had the rattle and to attempt to stop it i put velcro on the lid and dash which just seems to hold it and stop it from rattling so far.

Just one idea but no doubt there will be a better one along soon

Hope this helps

Mine does this, and I haven't been able to isolate exactly where it's coming from. Almost seems to be inside the glovebox door itself, so maybe something in the latch mechanism is loose. If you press the door shut, and apply some pressure, the rattle seems to go away, so not sure what I can do to fix it.

It's annoying, as its the only rattle I've got at the moment.

Unfortunately it's usually the glovebox handle mech that rattles. Sometimes bigger rubber stoppers cure it, but not always.

stick a rim of this on the inside of the glovebox lid!

doesnt look out of place and costs peanuts

Don't count your chickens, there'll be another one to join it before long - unless you are really lucky.

Cold weather, cold plastic, rattle rattle..... :giggle:

It comes from inside the door. You can temporarily quieten it while it is closed by pulling the lever open slightly, without opening the door itself.

:) A set of four rubber feet from Maplin (as suggested by Moggy Tech) fixed mine. Only problem - my local Maplin obviously don't sell many of them, the glue was rubbish, had to add some extra glue to get the blasted things to stay put.

 Oh I know. I'm quite prepared for a few rattles. I'm just pleasantly surprised there's only one at the moment, and it would be good to get rid of it so at least I have a little while of total peace! :D

I shall have a look at the products listed and see if I can fix it.

I did have a little rattle in the centre tunnel that was annoying the hell out of me. Undid some screws etc to get under there, couldn't find much, resat the plastic and screwed it down again, and it hasn't rattled since. Result!

mine used to rattle but i fixed it with the bodgy'est fix ever!! whilst trying to do it properly the little rubber bumpstop nearest the door fell out and dangled down, and when i shut the lid again it had stopped rattling.. result ha ha emoticon-0136-giggle.gif
