Polyurethane exhaust hanger?

Featured Replies

I love my Piper exhaust but it only looks any good when tucked well up into the bumper recess (otherwise you can see the 1 to 2 tailpipe section).

I replaced the rear hanger after fitting it and it was looking great but recently it appears that it has started to droop again which I confirmed by looking at some pics just after I replaced the hanger.

Now I don't mind doing the rear hanger once a year as it is a piece of cake job but is there a better more durable part out there? Maybe a Polyurethane one? Also if there is such a part will it transfer much more vibration into the cabin?

Many thanks for any help you can give :)

+1 id also like to get mine raised, it sits rather low in the bumper cut out at the minute

Try replacing the centre exhaust mount too, which is at the front of the back box. It's just as easy and as cheap as the rear one, you just need to get further under the car. If the centre one is droopy, then the new rear hanger will stretch more quickly. I recently replaced the centre mount to sort out a slightly squiffy tailpipe, and replaced the rear hanger a while back to pull it up a bit. Wish I'd just done both at the same time!

You could always use a well placed ziptie to limit the drop of the rear hanger rubber.....

Yeah it isn't too bad yet. My cut off point is when the mid point of the tip is level with the bottom of the cut out. Then it will drive me mad and have to be sorted :p

I should really do the centre one. Just laziness on my part as I can do the rear one without jacking the car up (which in turn means I can do it on my drive) :p

i just zip tied it up with the original mount. been fine for 6+ months and sits spot on
