DPF Delete Probs?

Featured Replies

Well after getting rid of my Fabia VRS and buying an Octavia VRS PD, im considering getting the dpf delete and remap as i have 1st hand experience of what a pain in the ass the dpf is on various cars!

Iv done a bit of digging and on the seat forum it appears almost everyone is experiencing a few problems with it, the main one being a stutter intermitantly, usually when in 6th and putting the foot down! A bit like kangaroo petrol as they describe it! Has anyone had the dpf delete done on their octavias and experienced this?

Im wondering if it could be a fuelling prob theyr getting, maybe the injectors maxing out as they seem to b running around 240bhp and the standard injectors will b pretty much on the limit here!

Also is there a dpf delete remap that is a bit more tame than that, say to around 190-200bhp? as its mainly just the wife that uses it with the kid in the back and aparently the aggresive map is a tad TOO responsive!!

So basically whose had it done, any problems and is there a less agressive map to go with the delete?

Cheers, Dave.

Thread being watched - was going to post something very similar

It'l be good to know what peoples experiences are on here as not much on here about any real problems with the dpf delete but on the seat forum theyre all complaining about this stuttering/missfire after having it done which isnt really something i want on mine, i dont wana cure one problem to create another if you know what i mean :|

My 170 pd is in JabbaSport as we speak getting the DPF delete and re-map done. I'll let you know if there are any probs. Kevin said that he was looking at around 210bhp so i'm assuming 240bhp must be near the upper limit for the cars standard fuelling.

Yeah thats exactly my thoughts, so im wondering if thats whats causing the faults, or overboosting perhaps!! Let us all know how you get on bud!

mine is on std map at minute and running like a bag of ****. It needs a good flogging to clear it but that was only done 2 nights ago. I still have DPF BTW

I'm awaiting the DPF modified map to try. Basically it fools car into thinking it's not there and therefore runs better but still needs flogging to keep it clear but won't drive pants

to tell you so.

DPF is the most rubbish thing i've experienced.

I'll let you know how it goes later today.

Ive heard they do a cracking job on the Pd 4x4 :thumbup: Not headline figures, realistic & a great drive

The stutter is down to the way the PD170 ECU works, it's a very fine balance and not every car is the same.

It can also be a symptom of turbo failure..

FFS i'll pray it's not the latter.....i've bought a pressure sensor to try.

The stuttering seems to be sporadic and triggered above 3000 revs.

When DPF was at 40% full the other night it was doing it at low revs and went away at anout 20% fill.

Cant see it being turbo failure when everyone is getting it after the dpf delete is carried out though? does it still happen with a mild remap?

All i want is the dpf gone, and a mild remap with no probs :'(

Well the Octy is ready for collection. JabbaSport didn't have a pipe to replace it with (all they had were MK V golf ones) so they just removed the internals of the old DPF and re-mapped the DPF program out.

Power figures are as follows:

Standard 173.7HP & 265ft-lbs

Modified 196.8HP & 339ft-lbs

They mapped it for a nice smooth power hike spread throughout the rev range for a nicer drive.

That graphs impressive - it's almost as if they've literally moved the original graph higher up the page!

I didn't say it *was* that, just that it could be that. I've seen it twice where the car has stuttered and a new turbo has fixed the issue.

When would you like to book it in? :D

Sorry to be a pain but have you received my web enquiry and/or PM?

Mine is back to standard temporarily.

I put the standard map and dpf downpipe back on a month or so ago to get a replacement turbo under warranty. There was some play in the turbine bearings and it seemed to be on its way out. The stutter with the Custom-Code dpf-off map had got really, really bad. It had always stuttered occasionally though (I believe in situations where EGT was high AND N75 duty cycle goes from very high to very low rapidly - classic example was flooring it away from a long average 50 speed camera section of the M1).

I will be swapping the downpipe back to the Milltek very soon, with a Shark Performance map. I'm also considering putting a mechanical boost controller on this time at say 1.6bar, so I can still have the boost come in really fast without worrying that the stupid Siemens ECU won't be able to control the N75 well enough. Thoughts on that Ben?

Agreed that looks like it should be nice to drive, smoother power delivery with less peaky bhp can often be easier to drive quickly, easier on the chassis / grip levels

Lol - it's the same downpipe on the Golf. Best hope you like it then as they've pulled the original part to bits.

The one on the Golf has a slightly different bend on the pipe according to JabbaSport. Either way, the DPF was blocked beyond regen so couldn't have done anything with it anyway. And it saved me over £300. Not driven the car yet as i'm still in Saudi but Gem who picked it up today says its pretty impressive. :D

Cool

i am planning to do this when my car gets a few more miles on her. keep the info rolling

Do you offer the DPF delete with a more tame map? If so im very interested, if theres no stutter lol :D

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi all

Sorry to hijack this thread, just thought I would see if anyone would be interested in joining a Group Buy for the DPF Delete & remap for £650, from one of the main tuning specialists (Not sure if I can mention there name here as they aren't sponsors?), but they are one of the big boys so to speak.

The GB has been running for just over a week @ UK-MKVS.NET & SeatCupra.Net and we have 4 people interested & only need 1 more to get it for an excellent £650 :D

its a little to soon for me :( seems a good price. who is the company ?
