Yes I think I must be !

I think that these are the DRL's on the Yeti. there will be a setting in the cluster to turn on or off!

As stated above these are your Daytime Running Lights. They will be mandatory on all cars soon. The bulb is designed to last the life of the car and to make you visible to others during the day (just like a motorbike has its light on all the time). So keep them on. But if you really don't like them you can switch them off from the Maxidot as stated above. Where they are called DRL.

Thanks appreciate you taking the time to reply; that was really informative l! Now I know why they are on , with winter approaching perhaps I'll take your advice and leave them on .

It is worth bearing in mind that these are not meant to be replacements for your dipped headlights. For example your rear lights are not on when your DRL's are on so you will still need to use your dipped lights in gloomy weather. (I came from a Volvo where your rear lights were on with the DRL's and was initially caught out on this one)

One of the anomolies of my SE is that the instrument dial lights fade (just leaving the pointers lit) when it goes dark outside - in a tunnel for example or at dusk.

I have an SE but have not noticed this. I would like this to happen to mine. Is this something that Skoda had on early models and then stopped or am I just not noticing it?

Doesn't do it on mine either.

Does yours have "auto" lights, Terfyn?

No Auto Lights. Must be a function of the software on earlier models.

It is annoying as, for example, the figures on the speedo have disappeared by the time I reach the centre of the Conwy Tunnel. As soon as we come back into daylight the figures get lit up again. Obviously, with the sidelights on, this does not happen.

Anyone know of a Maxidot switch for this?

How odd!

I bet there's a way of sorting it somewhere. Might be worth asking the dealer.

We have a 3 month old SE, with Light Assistant. I have noticed if we don't have it switched to Auto, i.e. the 'off' setting, it does the same, which I thought looked strange with just the pointers lit up. We noticed it the first time through Conwy Tunnel as well, with Auto on of course, as it usually is, we don't have a problem, so we just have to remember to leave it on Auto. Can't see a setting on our maxidot to change it.

We both really love the car though. Tony (Mr Jessica)

My wife's new Fabia II FL has the same unlit dials but lit 'needles', this gives an interesting stealth approach to judging your speed come dusk :giggle: Sadly there's no option on the Fabia for Auto Lights, don't even get a dimmer switch for the instruments any more :S
