Ordered mine today through DtD. Now that I have been contacted by the dealer to confirm the price and specification DtD have fulfilled their role and from now on I deal direct with the supplier. At a saving of £2800 on a £24k car, I'm happy. The chap I spoke to at DtD was very professional and emailed immediately to confirm a change of spec I had asked for. No doubt many of you will have reservations about using an online broker but the best price reduction I could negotiate with my local Skoda dealer was £2k short of the DtD quote. I note that 'Honest John' recommends the Yeti in today's Telegraph and frequently suggests DtD for car purchase.

Now the long wait! It could be 20 weeks before the new car arrives: Elegance 2.0 TDI CR with DSG box and a few options, Muscavado with Gobi Sand.

I am currently driving a VW Touran 2.0 TDI PD Sport with the DSG box and it's a must for me; an automatic that doesn't seriously affect fuel consumption. I only use the car for medium to long journeys and it returns around 50mpg. I have had all my servicing done in France for many years where there are still franchised garages that are family businesses and servicing costs are significantly lower even with the poor exchange rate. Unfortunately my nearest Skoda dealer in France is 25km away and a big VAG outfit with Skoda, VW, SEAT and Audi garages all in a row, not a good prospect for economical servicing - they charged 147€ just to diagnose a fault on my son's SEAT Leon FSI - outrageous. I digress!

I'll keep members posted of anything worthy of note as the long wait rolls on.

Nice one! I used DtD too and can't fault them. Since you are allowed to service your car wherever you want I have no problem buying my car at a different place to where I'll service it. Just don't expect normal Skoda levels of contact from the dealer. It is the corporate arm of that dealer that does DtD deals and thus they are used to a fleet manager placing an order and only talking to each other again when the car is picked up however long later.

"Enjoy" the wait!

Thanks for the information; always useful to know as much as possible about the supplier. I'm not too bothered about the wait since my current car is on extended warranty until end of February when the Yeti should emerge from winter hibernation.

Good luck.. I had good service from DtD and that dealer. BUT check and double check the order, as they forgot to add Luna alloys to my order (I found out when I collected). They were very rude to me when I said it was their fault, but eventually sent me a cheque for £100. I would order through them again though, as the overall experience was okay and the discount was awesome.

I have a Superb, but I am really trying to persuade my wife to get a Yeti!!!

Hence why I phoned SUK directly a few weeks after I ordered and got my order number to check the exact spec that was on the SUK system. And I did the same when I changed my order a few weeks back as the whole order change was done over the phone.

I also ordered through DTD and am fast approaching delivery. So far I have telephoned the supplier every fortnight for my own peace of mind and to establish some sort of working relationship.

Don't expect to receive too much feedback until the build date is confirmed. This appears to be confirmed about 2 weeks before build. Mine is showing a build week next week which will probably equate to a delivery date 3-4 weeks after that.

I will update the forum, with my experience, once I take delivery,

It seems like a long time to wait but this soon passes by and is helped by forums such as this. The only problem with reading these posts is that you sometimes start to doubt the decision you have made and start contemplating revising the order and adding more accessories. Keep the faith and go with your first decision if you can.

I'm also a DTD"orderer". Yours sounds like good advice Onesque.I've tended to forget about it all to make the wait seem shorter.Think I'll phone on monday for a check up.I ordered 3/8/10 and was hoping for end of nov'ish delivery .When did you order?

I ordered the first week in July. It's amazing how quickly the fortnights tick by but I bet the next few won't half drag.

Hi one-and-all

I have just read this thread feel a little easier now. I have just confirmed an order to DtD this morning: 1.2TSI SE DSG in Steel Grey metallic, with heated windscreen and a space-saver spare wheel. I'm "flying totally blind" as there is no Skoda dealer on the Isle of Man so I have not had the chance to have a test drive etc. Just always liked the vehicle since I saw the spec on line and have finally made the plunge. Obviously will be able to get it serviced at my usual VAT registered garage, and HOPE there won't be any warranty work needed otherwise it looks like a boat trip to Liverpool or Heysham.....rather costly!!!

I had never heard of DtD until searching through Google yesterday and comparing prices. Glad they seem good to deal with! I bought my current car [Renault Grand Scenic] through UK Car Discount, but they couldn't get anywhere near DtD for the Yeti price.

So I await a call from the dealer - told it will be someone off the M25 motorway -in the next couple of days, and then the wait of 16-20 weeks until they drive it up to my Aunt in Liverpool and I collect it and bring it home.

Speaking of delivery, has anyone dealing through DtD had the experience yet of a driver delivery? Just wondered how the vehicle will be treated over the approximate 200 miles between M25 and Liverpool!

Also what info do I need from the dealer to be able to check with Skoda UK that the spec ordered is correct etc.

Thanks in advance for assistance on my questions above.

Hope I've made the right decision with there being no dealer here - only time will tell!!

Welcome to the forum manxman. Well, I tested exactly ZERO other cars. I knew I wanted a Yeti and had no interest in what other cars had to offer as nothing out there offers what the Yeti does. You made a good choice but then we are baised here on this forum! emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

As to delivery: well how often do you buy a car?!?! Can't you just travel to London that once? I'd highly recommend you rather pick the car up than have it delivered. Not that I think anything will go wrong with the car. And you can insist on it being trailer delivered as well. So it won't be driven.

All spec and any future changes to your order will be done by Kuldip at the dealer. So you need not worry. And until four weeks before you car gets built (so roughly 7 weeks before delivery) you can change anything on the order. So you need not worry about what boxes you ticked on the DtD website just now. I changed my order and got the extras at the exact same DtD discount as when I ordered originally through DtD. So really nothing to worry about. Within the next week or so you will be contacted and everything arranged and from then you can just sit back and read this website! Happy waiting! emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

To be honest, I didn't expect any dealer contact during the wait for my order through Drive the Deal (and didn't get any!). Having said that, all necessary communication was fairly efficient, and done over email, so I've no complaints.

I'd second what others have said - go to the dealer and pick the car up in person. Everything will probably be fine, but when I collected mine I wanted to be able to check the car thoroughly before handing over any money, so if there were any problems I'd be able to walk away and get them to fix things before they get paid. That way they have an incentive :-)

If it's the same dealership that supplied mine, it is *very* easy to get to, and you don't want a delivery driver thrashing a brand new engine...

Yes fly to London from IOM and pick up the car. The delivery will cost the dealer to get the car to Liverpool so you may be able to negotiate some assistance with the price of a flight or hotel. We were over on the Isle for the rally in July. I must say we really enjoyed it and were made very welcome.

I had a quote today from one of the internet brokers,Yeti elegance 1.2 dsg £16895 no added extras as yet(approx 20 weeks delivery). They state "we can confirm that the above price would be guaranteed upon placing an order, and would not be affected by the VAT increase due in January".

Does this mean the quoted price would stand to Feb/March next year.

I was told exactly the same thing and it appears that as long as the car is registered within ten days of arriving on the UK, the VAT rate remains at 17.5%.
