Bad news for Cupra intake owners

Featured Replies

To get more air - I wonder if any one tried re-piping their aircon into their intercooler? :)

ooo theres's an idea and how about connecting the internal blowers to the Exhast to keep nice and warm in the car

You guys don't seem to know how diesels work!

THERE IS NO THROTTLE ON A DIESEL!

So what controls the amount of fuel going into the engine?

Rob.

I would say the standard Furby will not really see any gains with a Cupra Intake. The remapped one have been proved by Jabba. They were seeing about 185bhp before the engine was hitting the limit. Now with the Cupra trumpet they are seeing about 195bhp. There will be a limit to the turbo through put but you must first get the max throughtput into the engine before you can hit it and I believe the Cupra trumpet helps out with a remapped car.

I have also spoken to Ross about this and he and I agree the remapped cars will see a benfit where as the standard cars will not unless the normal throughput of the airbox is restrictive on the engine.

The fuel injector pedal and the injectors ;)

Hehehe

Found this to help explain to those of us who, according to SkodaKid, know nothing about diesel engines.

This is not representitive of all diesel engines as many engines equipped with 'old fashioned' Injection Pumps still grace our roads.

Good 2 page document that!

The accelerator pedal

A throttle is the restrictor plate used in petrol engines to control airflow.

My original comment was aimed at devonuptia's post which seemed to suggest that airflow was controlled by a throttle.

Maybe I read it wrong.

Throttle as in "throttle pedal"...yeah, it doesn't operate a real throttle, but I suspect that's what he meant. :D

 Yeah, the go-go-juice pedal. :D As an aside, I removed the fly by wire / pedal assembly out my wreck on Saturday - might use it as a paperweight reminder to myself of my little incident.
