Build Date to Delivery

Featured Replies

Hopefully my SM was built last week (Week 41) I will try and confirm this on Monday.

I'm aware that the first part of the journey is from the factory to Emdem, where it will then be shipped across the North Sea to Grimsby, and then to the supplying dealer in London.

Does anyone know how long these various stages of the journey take and if I'm being a little optimistic hoping for a delivery date of about 3 weeks?

Hi,

if she's going to a dealer in London then more likely Sheerness will be the port of entry. Regard delivery dates then it's very much pot luck; our Yeti took three weeks exactly to arrive at the dealer from build, having spent over a week in Emden waiting for a ship. However my wife's Fabia we believe was built on the 24th August and by the 3rd Sept was with the dealer.

Regards,

TP

Mine was built week 39 and still hasnt got to the dealer yet although it is now in the UK since it got off the ship sometime beginning of the week. Frustratingly waiting for it to be put on transporter to the dealer !

Hopefully collect next weekend though hurrah emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Interesting stuff. How do folks on here track their cars?

u need to track all ships leaving emden with the name ending in HIGHWAY...like wesser highway etc etc...those ships carry the monsters over...do a search and u will find many posts with links, inc those from me

Hi

According to my dealer my SM was built week before last and as of Thursday last was still awaiting shipment - best delivery date at the moment is "By the end of the month." I understand the Skoda area Manager is involved but this is still the best date I can get. Working in Road Haulage , if it took 3 weeks for me to get a consignment to Northern Germany then I'd soon have the Boss's foot in my crevice!

Car was ordered 4th July in straight white with no options apart from the "Full size spare wheel" - guess a 2.0 TDI Golf to same spec would have been delivered long ago , but then everyone has one of those.

I take solace in the fact that the salesman must be even more fed up than me - no car , no commission!

Hi Garth

Ordered mine 2 days after yours, same colour, spare wheel, rough terrain package, heated screen and tow bar prep.

I had a look on google maps today to see where the Skoda factory was in relation to Emden. Distance about 500 miles depending on what roads are used. One thing I didn't realize was just how big the factory was.........massive.

I've also checked the 'Kess' line ships to see how many there are. As already stated these are all named ####### Highway, so will be monitoring their departures and progress over the next few weeks to see how many head for Sheerness (thanks for the info TP I thought they all went via Grimsby).

Would be nice if the car was fitted with a tracker so I could see exactly where it was during it's journey. I did have a look at the various webcams, Emden port etc but decided that was going bait too far lol.

So the wait continues.

Weser Highway just entering the Humber & Main Highway arrived at Emden this morning next port of call Sheerness. Hopefully some more SM's will be soon arriving at our shores.

I tried to post an image but failed miserably.

People at work are having to wait 5 to 6 months for golfs to be delivered from order, this seems typical these days. Estates are particularly difficult to get.

You are not buying a car off the peg unless by chance a dealer has the right spec in stock or available, remeber when cars were parked in fields for years sometimes before someone picked that spec?

At least you know the car you are getting has been built for you and has not been sat somewhere.

 Well the update is that it was built last week and is now sat on the dockside at Emden. Main Highway is alongside loading and due to be in Sheerness tomorrow so I just hope there's enough room onboard for the baby. I'll have the system checked tomorrow after the ship has sailed to see if it's in transit. BTW you forgot VHF/HF radio.

Well if it doesn`t get to Sheerness it looks like you`re sunk!!! :'(

I think the weather forecast is quite good barring collisions, torpedoes, pirates or running aground hopefully it will arrive in one piece, that's assuming it was loaded. Capacity for 830 cars so keeping fingers crossed.

In the words of the late great Otis Redding the dealers computer is showing my SM "sitting on the dock of the bay ........'.

So the wait continues.

It's arrived!

My dealer called Tuesday to say my SM is now in the country - eta to him is this Friday. Hopefully he can get it PDI'd shortly and I can become the "Happy Driver" we all aspire to

Good Luck. tMy personal experince suggests that might be a little optimistic. Build weeks can slip very quickly and appartently there is a shortage of 170 engines. Mine was build week 41, now 47.

Too negative for me Andy. More likely they are grouping the builds. Our cars may be sisters!

Shortage of 170's... Well, shortage all round so happy to wait.

Gonna cut a whole in the roof when it arrives.. DIY sunroof.

I have a question to ask since i have never bought a new car before . How long on average does a PDI take????. I heard from the dealer that the build week for my SM is 1st November and then 3 weeks later it should be with them. Considering I live in Scotland I am trying to work out travel plans to get to London where the dealer is...I know its a wee while off yet but the excitment of owning a wee beastie is getting to me , ( soon to be proud owner of 1.2 dsg SE in pacific blue). Any info on this greatly apprecicated and on how to track it across from europe. TA :)
