Fabia VRS RARB?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if the new fabia vrs has a rear anti roll bar as standard? And if so if it can be retrofitted to my fabia 08 1.9TDi

Thanks.

No it doesn't.

Rear beam is unchanged from the MK1 so whiteline and Jabba arbs fit.

i'm surprised it doesn't considering it costs about £16K

It's nothing to do with cost cutting, the platform doesnt come with one in any guise.

VAG don't put rear anti roll bars as such on any of the torsional rear beam cars. A few have internal bracing bars but that's it.

Damn!!!

I knew I should'nt have sold mine when I traded in the Fabia in 2007!!

Wardy!!! I want it back!!

No it definitely doesn't come with a roll bar in the rear. Wish it would because I think it would finish the look of to be honest.

so what's the reason for not fitting a rear anti roll bar if it's not cost cutting. We know it can definately be fitted and does improve handling.

They don't think it's required.

It's not really an anti roll bar really, more of a stiffener for the rear beam.

I have had the Jabbasport RARB fitted to my Fabia 2 and there were no issues attaching it to the beam it does hit the exhaust box when the suspension is compressed. This is something which I hope to remedy maybe by moving the back box slightly further to the rear by about 2cm. To date Jabba have not responded to my query as they promised me it would fit without any problems. Coincidently the RARB came with a chip in its paintwork which happens to be in the same place as where the back box is hitting it on my car! I would take it off and send it back but Jabba will charge me 20% restocking fee for it. If I cannot sort my problem out then a RARB maybe up for sale here soon.

For information also; The air intake is as big as the favourite mod for the Skoda Fabia 1 VRS so don't bother and I fitted a K&N air filter inside the standard air box which probably is more efficient.

Waiting to get it 'chipped' now.

I contacted Jabba this week about the RARB for the Mk2 Fabia vRS and they said that a customer had had an issue with it hitting the back box but had yet to see anything in the workshop, also quoted that if I had an issue with it there would be the 20% restocking fee. I emailed back that I would like to hear how it goes but would not buy a product which they could not garuntee was fit for purpose with the risk of 20% lost money. Didn't get anything back after that, so not really impressed by their attitude to this, would have thought that they would deal with the problem professionally not just ignore it and make the customer pay the price if there is an issue.

Thing is that the Fabia doesn't need the RARB, it needs front-end grip.

The difference is that the back-end has higher tendencys to step out when you fit the RARB, something you can get if you remove some weight instead.

I would go for dampers + springs instead, gives so much more.

That + bushings!

Fair point, which some will probably disagree with, personally I am just testing the water as I haven't even got the car yet. What I was really suprised at though was the Jabba could not or would not ensure that the product was actually fit for purpose and then have the gaul to charge the customer 20% if it didn't actually fit and had to be returned.

I know I will get loads off comments about me talking b*ll ;).

RARB is overrated imo.

If they say that the part is supposed to fit the Fabia mk2 and it doesn't, doesn't that fall under false advertising?

bugger i left mine on my mk1 when i p/x'ed it

Struggling to see how a RARB would catch on the exhaust, bar is under the rear axle, exhaust is over the top of it.

I have the Whiteline rear ARB on my Polo GTI and it doesn't catch the exhaust or get anywhere near it. For me I think the rear ARB makes very little difference to the handling and if I hadn't got the part as a package deal I would have spent my money on polybushing first.

To be fair , I had a Whiteline ARB on my Fabia (one of the very first)

That one mod was THE best thing that I ever did to my Fabia

Very close call to the larger washer bottle ;) as I did 148 miles per day and had to fill up the washer bottle half way there , always said my bladder was bigger than that bottle

But I did Woodhead pass every day and that was a twiddly road

It was an amazing mod , definately worth it

The whole of the car was tighter , the front and the rear

I noticed that the bends was taken quicker and felt a whole lot steadier and planted

I did not do any track days , or did I go alot of miles on a straight road

But wether the remap or the ARB was to be fitted to get some extra speed on a road like Woodhead Pass , I would say that the ARB would have made that journey quicker and felt a whole lot better

another good reason for the Rear arb would be if you removed the extra weight pack in the the back and you have to restabilize it if the handling get to worst.

The handling is better with the weights removed. Only under hard braking the rear gets a tad skittish.
