Smallest wheels that will fit a vRS

Featured Replies

Am I right in thinking that 15" alloys will fit a standard Furby vRS? I want to get a set of winter tyres this year, and the price of 205/45/16s is extortionate, so I was thinking of 195/50/15s

Yeah 15s fit. People on here have put 185 60 15 on as they are a bit cheaper than 205s, i run 185 55 15s as they only have -1% diff

on caluculation.

Thanks for that. I was thinking 195/50/15 because it's the standard size on the Sport and Bohemia.

Yes, but, you will find that using narrower tyres in snow and ice will provide better grip.

Yep - run 185 60 15 winters on my VRS SE

195 55 15 is the same outer size as the standard 205 45 16

As long as you're running the standard 288mm brakes, you'll be fine with a 15".

Picked up some five spoke 15"s from an A3 today - trial fitted them and they are spot on, even have the same offset as the original vRS wheels

Thanks for all your help

For those of you that have fitted winter tyres have you advised your insurance company?, and if so did they charge an additional premium due to the change from standard to non standard tyres?

Cheers

First of all............Seriously?????.............. informing insurance company?

Secondly them charging you more for being safer in the snow and ice? :S

Dont matter with steel wheels, dont have to say anything about tyres either i think?

Have you advised your insurance company that you have done 200 miles on those tyers and they have lost 0.01mm of tread? :dull:

There's always two schools of thought on this sort of thing; so no real need for attempted sarcasm :dull:

You've altered the car from its original factory specification, so...

It's clearly down to the individual whether they discuss it with their insurance company, it's their policy after all. Those that have often see that it makes no impact on premium and such, their details are updated and a 'thanks for telling us' from the insurance company.

It's a legitimate, and reasonable point to raise in this type of discussion, IMO.

Cheers,

Steve

Always attempted

Guys for the tricky run on ice and snow just fit 'snow socks, use Google - perfect easy to get on like screwing on a bottle cap though trickier to get off. Could easily follow a defender in the very worst of our last winter weather here in Kington.
