Turbo Actuator Negative Deviation - EGR Related?

Featured Replies

I recently had my turbo off and away for refurb, while it was off I took the opportunity to fit an EGR delete kit from Allard, since then the cars been back together and for a reason I cant seem to figure it basically will not come on boost and give off smoke, then do it without smoke, then it will come on boost but really agressively - almost overboosting.

I've covered around 1-2k miles and the problem is no better. When I hooked it up to VAG com it says "Negative Deviation", which reccomends checking the VAC hoses, the actuator etc, so I have changed the actuator (pain in the backside might i add), the hoses are fine, which means I have the MAF or the VAC box (N75 or somthing) left to replace

I dont have any engine management lights on, however I do if I unplug the MAF...and it makes no difference to performance i.e. coming on boost

I've just been thinking and wondered, what if its simply down to my remap not mapping out the EGR valve so to speak, what would the symptoms be?

Any help appreciated guys - hope it makes sense, thanks in advance,

Danny

surely someone must know?

What turbo work did you have done exactly?

New core...nothing complex.

Could be the actuator settings need re-setting up, i.e the stopscrew and actuator rod length - If those two things were fiddled with during the rebuild,

negative deviation is usually a boost leak issue though. I also got in when I had a hole in the vacuum hose going to the actuator.

Iv put the old actuator off my previous turbo on - i forgot to send it when it went to be fixed and they fitted a new one...I honestly think its somthing electronic as its a bit intermittent. Thanks for the replies though, and im guessing you don't know whether it could be related to not having an EGR valve?

P.S. I deffinatey dont have a boost leak as all the power is there - just not all the time! lol

really frustrating me now though :(

If it was EGR related, I'd expect the CEL light to come on. Has the EGR been mapped out by RST?

Yeah - I can't see the EGR (or lack-of) being responsible for causing any kind of hesitation. I fitted mine before I got it mapped out, and all I had was CEL light and one fault which basically said it couldn't find the EGR :D Never any hesitation.

Nah i've had no CEL light on at all, I dont know if it was mapped out that's why i'm asking if the symptoms are related.

If its not that then it has to be one of the other 2 (or the VAC hose, i'll buy some replacement hose to be sure) :'(

Ok well thanks for your help guys.
