Xenon Headlights

Featured Replies

And go down your local mcdonalds 50% have fake xenon's they aren't even white (which xenon's are)

there all these fancy blue's and purples ranging from 6k to12k on the colour scale and they really do look terrible!

OEM xenon's are white in colour and are 4.3k and with correct projector lights they look the mutts

:p

Xenon's need projector lenses, self levelling and washers...

The LAW will clamp down on it in the future....

and you may think your fake 'xenon's' are astonishing but they aren't its the wrong bulb for the headlight so how can it be amazing LOL

Nearly right.... They don't HAVE to be projectors though.

The Lexus IS300 i've just bought this weekend has xenons but no projectors.... As do the IS200's that have them, some of the earlier Volvo's, Some big Mercs and the current Civic.

Is another thing along the same lines. Comes with ballasts etc too. Not sure of the exchange rate atm, so dunno how it works out cost wise.

*Edit* Just checked - it's about £250+ P&P, which isn't too bad when you factor in the cost of ballasts onto the other link.

This is their "latest" project... http://www.theretrofitsource.com/product_info.php?products_id=236&osCsid=a3e3d6d911c72144e1d369a83e03c113

Purpose designed (or acquired) mini-bi-xenons for retrofitting. Can also get a full kit for $300! Also, they have 3K "foul weather" bulbs. Which could muddy the waters even more as they'll look white/yellow of good halogen bulbs rather than "HID"

as long as they are levelled and the right bulb kit, eg reflector or projector to prevent glare theres absolutely no reason that any attention will be drawn to them, the "law" wont know any better.

Until they as you to spray your washers ;)

Matt

mate i know they are **** thats why i am changing them for some original headlights with the correct HALOGEN bulbs

i am no wannabe

ano lol just winding you up lol least you got projectors eh ;) lol

Out of interest, do you know why washers are a legal requirement with Xenons but not standard lights?

Cos the EU says so as far as I can tell. All my 'washers' do if make the dirt wet, which is useful. Excellent at spraying tailgaitors with a cloud of mist though!

I believe it's because the xenons produce more light and a film of road dirt across the headlight can defract the light off it's intended path and therefore dazzle oncoming road users.

Thanks, just wondered.

TBH, to get the HL auto washers to work properly requires an awfully long pull on the screen washers and then it temporarily blinds you as it does it. I'd rather have a button to do it when I want. But if the HLs are so caked it affects the light, then I should have cleaned them before setting off.
