Roguebrit: back to your point 2. I found this picture attached showing what the standard Skoda rubber mat looks like in a with-spare-wheel Yeti. And looking at that it looks very easy to just cut a bit off with a sharp knife and it will fit perfectly!

Johann - thanks so much for taking the trouble to post that - you are dead right. I have actually got a textile mat on order now - but wish I had done exactly as you suggest. I may do it anyway - I thought that might be the case, but how you found a picture of it I don't know!

On a slightly different note - in the OP I said:

I am surprised, to say the least, that even top spec Yeti's do not have a drivers side mirror with a blind spot panel. I looked around the forecourt, and every other car there, except old ones, have one. As the mirror shape is different to the Superb et al, a swap is not an option. I can't get my head round why this is the case..it seems, well, just perverse!

I wonder what others feel about this. I drove around a lot today - including joing fast traffic in motorway conditions, lane changing, overtaking etc. It is years since I had a car with mirrors without the blindspot panel and, to me, it really makes a difference not having it on the Yeti. Every other model, I think, has one. And most every lowly model of car, these days, in most every marque. I personally think it is a bizarre omission, and a real step backward safety-wise. The Yeti side mirrors are not particularly large - in terms of how far they reach from the body - and quick tests have shown me there is a significant blind spot. The panel totally eliminated that spot on my old Golf. It's a real puzzle, and a little annoying to say the least.

I'm sure I saw somebody selling Yeti mirrors with blind spot bit on ebay......

I can't agree more. It was on my 1982 Golf last that I had to resort to one of these stick on convex mirrors. Bizarre.

I have found that with the mirrors correctly positioned there is no need for a blind spot mirror addition. By the time an overtaking car has left the interior mirror it is just in view in the door mirror, and by the time you can't see it there it is in the corner of your eye.

I even found that by adjusting them outwards a bit more I was able to see passed the caravan.

My are positioned so that I can just see the rear door handles.

I guess we all have different driving positions, and build etc and that makes a difference. It is my only explanation, as I have just been outside with a friend and there is a distinct blind spot for me - not that large for car sized objects, but certainly enough to hide a motorbike, pedestrian etc in certain positions - and, I think, enough to cause me to overlook a small vehicle. Result, for me, is to re-adopt a 'take a look over the shoulder' habit, to be sure. Since the panel has become virtually universal elsewhere, I have to say I remain very surprised it is missing on the Yeti. emoticon-0124-worried.gif
