A question @ Ross Clarke

Featured Replies

Could of probably just PM'd you, but I thought it would be nice for other people to get involved and see your response.

A few questions really...

1) Why did you get the hybrid turbo?

2) What benefits?

3) Your profile shows 200 bhp & 340 lb/ft torque, someone on here after a decent remap managed 197 bhp and 300 lb/ft of torque without having the Milltek exhaust which will add a further 20 lb/ft of torque, so have you really spend XXX amounts to achieve 20 lb/ft or is there more too it?

That's it really but it'd be nice to hear your thoughts as to why you did it and where you got it from too. Is it just from the PD Cupra 160?

Cheers!

1) coz hes a jammy f**ker who got it for peanuts when he worked for AMD

2) More power without blowing up the std turbo

3) Ross has a conservative map, and a milltek.. 200-210bhp is about the max you can go on std injectors.. just like 185bhp is about the safe limit for a turbo without hi flow cat + intake.

Bit unfair, peanuts usually cost something :P

I believe Ross's hybrid is running more boost (peaking @ 1.7 bar) than the std turbo could handle (safely).

It's not all about the figures! Having a freer-flowing exhaust means that the throttle is more responsive and makes a big difference to how the car can be driven. :D

Ok thanks! when my Furby gets remapped by Jabba on friday, what happens if they are able to exract 197 bhp like someone achieved on here. Should I worry about failing turbo's?

good question, I'm at jabba at the say time as hellfire, and have the same mods. It would be interesting to know. I'm guess that jabba wont hike the power that much though?

Jabbas RR results cant always be taken as gospel ;)

Do I smell Revo and JBS in the air - along with the foul smell of diesel? ;)

Here we go again...

I smell something, not entirely sure what it is though. :)

Im not after causing a firefight.. merely stating what other people have said. Jabba is a good company, and the better option for those planning to get zorst/turbo/intake mods

Mike always remaps the car within safe limits.

He will not exceed the maximum boost that the turbo will safely handle. In fact, he will knock it back if he can get x amount of bhp but feels it will have detrimental effects on the turbo or any other part of the engine.

I can't comment on how accurate the rolling figures are @ Jabba, but all rolling roads will be different. Too many factors to take into consideration.

Jon, I thought that was the case, I seem to remember someway saying that they got xxxbhp but it was knocked down to xxxbhp.

Pretty sure Andy said they had to back off the map on his PD100 as it was causing too much clutch slip. I believe now that his new clutch is on, it's been mapped back up again ;)
