IronX (aka Iron Cut) and Zaino save the day

Featured Replies

Last Monday I arrived back on my drive from holiday to find my neighbour in the middle of grinding / belt sanding and painting his gates. I'd left my car parked hard up against the fence while we were away so it was inches from where he was working. As I walked up the drive my heart sank as I saw my car completely carpeted in rust spots - every panel. Disaster.

First thing I did was blast it with the pressure washer and foam it but these sintered iron shards weren't going anywhere. The surface felt like a brillo pad. I had some clay but I didn't really fancy dragging all those metal shards over my paint so I got straight onto cleanyourcar.co.uk and ordered a bottle of IronX.

So today I pressure washed and foamed it again and gave it a very careful 2BM wash and dry. I went around the car section by section with the IronX, wiping it down with a damp MF after it had dwelled for a few minutes. Then I rinsed it down, dried it and gave it coat of Meg's UQD. I used half a bottle of IronX to do the entire car. The result is thoroughly amazing. I didn't even have to clay as well, which I was expecting to need to. The surface is back to perfectly glassy smooth to the touch and there are no little black dots or rust left.

I think IronX is nothing short of amazing. I also believe the damage was minimized and removal made easier because my car had been treated to a good few layers of Zaino sealants 3 weeks before this happened. Sorry I haven't got any photos to illustrate the damage or the results of the IronX but the weather has been rubbish and I was having to work as quick as possible to finish before it got dark. Oggy and a few others saw how bad it looked at the Snipe last week though.

Hope you gave him a piece of your mind! Our neighbour decided to start cutting bricks just as my dad had finished washing his.

I had to make myself not say anything at the time because I was too angry. I will tell him next time I see him though, just from the perspective that I want him to come round and tell me before he does any similar jobs that might damage my car, so I can move it.

IronX or Iron Cut as it's older trade name would have it is a good product but I feel it's got a fair hype about it and it's super expensive........... :o

Nice to here the car is looking well and Zaino is still your choice............

Agreed, it is expensive. I was surprised to see how fast the bottle was going down, but I probably did lay it on a bit heavily.

At the end of the day though, for situations like this it's a life saver, so it's well worth the outlay.

I'll also get some good use of it on my summer wheels, when they get their big off the car clay, polish and seal in the coming months. B)

Glad to hear it Nick - after seeing how down you were on Tuesday

Cheers Bryan

If all had failed, you'd have fitted in well at the VAG meet at Elsecar next year

Really glad you got It sorted Nick.

I felt horrible that I couldn't help you, but there were no way I could have stood long enough on my foot no matter how many pain killers I'd have taken.

Don't be daft mate. It wouldn't even have been worth both our time me coming over - it was so easy to sort once I had the IronX.

Good result. How much is IronX anyway?

Rubbish that you had to go to all this trouble in the first place though, just down to the inconsiderate nature of other humans!

£15.95 + £3.95 delivery for 500ml. I used a shade over half a bottle.

So while I was on holiday in January, toss master general next door did the same trick again. Once again, Iron X worked like magic.

I was more sparing with it this time, using probably half as much as I did the first time, and it worked just as well. Mist over the panel, leave a minute or two, agitate with a damp microfiber, leave again for another minute as more purple droplets appear, wipe again, give it one more chance - this time hardly any purple bits forming, wipe again then rinse off.

I also did my BBSs with it and it fetched loads off. They're ready for polishing and sealing now. B)

I hope you told the idiot this time - or did he do it deliberately?
