Swap wheels, pressure sensor question

Featured Replies

Hi. I have a 170 superb combi 4x4 on order and I've purchased winter tyres on 16" steels to fit for the winter months.

How does the tyre pressure monitoring work? In my last car I had pressure sensors attached inside the wheels. Is this how it works on the superb? If so I guess I need to buy some to fit on my winter set.

Does anybody know?

Thankyou

No sensors in the wheel beside the normal ABS rpm sensors.

The system simply works with rpm of the wheels. Lower pressure has influence on the rpm....

As far as i know, the skoda has indirect TPMS, which means that it registers the rotational speed of the individual tire and displays a general alert in the display. So no sensors in the tires.

All very clever stuff! Thanks mate

Lots of front tyre wear on my Superb Estate, so changed wheels front to rear yesterday. Tyre pressures were bang on before and after the change, but the monitoring system came on and had to be reset. Seems it was able to detect the difference between the front and rear wear!!!
