PD160 Intake

Featured Replies

I know this topic is old news but I'll ask anyway.

I'm after a PD160 intake and Jabba are currently doing them for £88. This seems extortionate for 2 bits of the cheapest plastic. Are Seat stealers this expensive? And has anyone made their own version or does anyone else sell them?

Cheers.

Yes SEAT dealers are that expensive

They started off at about £25 but rocketed as they were snapped up by PD130 drivers who were remapping.

a few years down the line and they are now £80+

Yes it's a con-job. Save your money and put it towards something else that will make a real difference to performance.

Well I'm getting myself booked in for a Unit 18 Washbrook remap to about 175bhp and 300ftlbs. I've read the intake should help that to breathe better.

There's a lot of smoke and mirrors about if it has an effect or not - try reading this threadfor an idea

Personally I reckon as remaps tend to work on a more "air + more fuel = more power" basis the intake is a good idea.

When my car was mapped at jabba they fitted the intake and did a run on the rollers with the standard map and it made 138bhp so it might have made a difference or my car might have been putting out extra power already

If your car is booked into Unit 18 speak to Ali about ordering you the intake. His parts prices are usually pretty good!

Will it not be best to look for cars in scrapyards with them fitted as standard? I'm sure this would be cheaper. Which cars have them as standard though?

oh just a wildcard guess....but a PD160 ?? :giggle:

Not too many PD160's in scrapyards one guesses?

You rarely even see them on the road!

I can remember someone doing a 'pikey' version of it and using a bit of flexible tubing and lots of duct tape.

There was even another thread about making one in carbon fibre, but I'm not sure what happened to it.

Keep a look out in the for sale section as they keep popping up second hand every so often.

Cheers

Dave.
