Just ordered a ps3 and gt5 collectors edition, and a driving force GT wheel. Promised myself one when gt5 was released only been waiting 5 years  It had better be good!!

Just getting some practice in on GT4... Good job there's no SWMBO or I reckon there'd be a very dim view of the temporary (honest) setup...

Prepare for a little extra wait.

Was reading last night, theres a ~50 minute (and 10GB) installation, before we can start playing.

I have it! Postie brought it this morning. There's a 133Mb update to enable the online bits and then 8GB of gamedata to install. It's just taken me over 1/2 an hour to install.

Jammy sod ^ !

Mine was sent yesterday, hoping it would of turned up today but it hasn't :(

Does anyone know where there's an OFFICIAL car list?

i got mine today to B)

12 hour night shift to try it lol

Has anyone got their one from Play?

mine was sent on friday and Ive still not got it, received a letter sent on saturday tho? mine been preordered for a year or so now. No skodas tho, which is pooooooooo!

might be sticking to Forza3 now Ive sorted the 360.

well thats IF this game ever turns up.

ordered mine from play.com and still waiting for it to arrive after being despatched Friday

***** DONT READ IF YOU WANT TO WAIT FOR YOUR COPY OF GT5 TO ARRIVE - CONTAINS GAME FEATURES ETC *****

I got mine today from shopto.net only £34.88 too!

I hate to say it though but considering the wait, I'm very disappointed with the game. With the 5 year wait it is a massive anti climax. Its good, dont get me wrong, but I was expecting incredible.

Rating it along side gt4, massive improvement. Rating it against the likes of forza3, which has been out for quite some time, its about on par. The dynamic weather and premium cars are good. But not all tracks have dynamic weather, only 200 cars are premium, the weather doesnt seem to be an option for multiplayer and the tuning is the old school gt stage 1 2 and 3 idea. Not like Forza's individual parts you can buy etc.

I've completed the beginner races, yet to see any damage on any of them, some of the special events and on arcade? The game itself up to now has been far too easy. Very easy to get credits so after just a couple of hours I had enough to buy a top end car.

The in car view (premium cars) is good, however playing on a 19" screen, its hard to make out the rev counter etc and the computer generated one is very small so hard to keep an eye on shifting points, the interior speedometer reads in kmh despite having the computer one set to mph (cars with digital dashs). Also the rear view mirror is blocked by the player grid positions, you may be able to change this but haven't really got round to looking.

For the people who like to customise the look of the cars, im unsure if you havev to unlock alloy wheels but there is a very limited choice of alloys available to me at present. Unable to change wheel size. You can get a couple of aero modifications (spoilers and such) but thats about it. You can spray cars different colours but you have to buy a car with x colour to unlock x colour to spray cars!

But yeah thats about all I can think of at present! I really enjoy racing simulators and have been so looking forward to this game blowing my mind but it simply didn't.

I've not played much yet, but i do agree the game is a touch of an anti-climax.

After taking the optional 50 minute (was about 35 for me) install, i was expecting everything to wiz along. Yet everything seems to result in a loading screen still, and im forever seeing "installing.....", even though i've already been through a lengthy install already.

Slightly puzzling as well, that when you go into a group of events, you have to select each event individually, you don't finish one event, then move onto the next, like most other games.

Even worse, why cant i buy a Skoda or Seat? I thought this game had 1000+ cars, yet both mine are missing :(

The game is definitely prettier than Forza, although it does use the same cheat, where it has hi-resolution cars, but the tracks are a lot less defined.

I need to drive more cars, to decide whether the handling is any good, as i've only driven some of the low end ones, and go karts.

The best thing about GT5 is the sheer amount of content. Theres definitely plenty of tracks, and cars to choose from.

Did anyone work out how to drive the top gear test track? Only way i've found, is a silly race with old skool VW Campervans, which was like watching paint dry :(

Yep i too received mine yesterday only to be rather dissapointed :( where are all of these cars that they claim to have? i cant fit new wheels cos my car is "In standard form" of something, theres no new bumpers or bonnets that i can fit etc and you can only paint your car if you have a car that is of a different colour and own the paint. it pure stinks if you ask me. maybe im just used to Forza 3. I also find the viewing of cars from the used dealership to be a pain in the backside, its just a list. if you want to see what they look like you have to go into each individual one. not impressed, its not the most user friendly layout

My comments echo the above really...

Now i admit im NOT really a fan of the PS3.. i definately prefer the eggbox gamepads and using the triggers for accel/brake... setting the ps3 to use the triggers is better, but still nowhere near as linear as the eggbox controllers

The 2 things i wanted to mess with: TG test track and the nordshlife.. and you cant?!.. dunno if they are unlocks later in the game or something but at the moment they are only available in special events.

Regarding the cars: it does basically mean there are *only* 200 cars. you can only buy/choose colour of the premium cars in the dealership.. the other 800 standard cars you just have to keep checking the used dealership to see if the one you want appears in your colour (who thought it would be a good idea for you to have to unlock the specific colour before you could paint any car?!!)

The tuning is "clunky" in that you have to click on every individual option to see what effect it will have on the engine, and theres no stats for aero stuff.. and no "at a glance" display for how your car compares to others... although it seems to think my supercharged 180bhp mx5 is comparable to 300bhp M3's in races etc

The jury is still out on the physics model.. i guess its better (trying to do the S-bend in the b-licence with the S2000 trying to swap ends with every dab of the brakes lol) but i also noticed theres NO physics attached to the track.. IE in forza if you clipped a tyre wall the front end would dig in and spin you.. in this all the walls and off-tarmac surfaces are the same and a wee bit too grippy for being grass.

We shall see i guess. ive borrowed a PS3 to play this, but at the moment i cant say its better than forza.

/rant over for now

In Gran Turismo 4, you were only ever able to change the wheels and performance parts, not bonnets and bumper.

It's not for chavvy boy racers :giggle: (joke).

Apparently my copy arrives today, so I'll compare with what you are saying

I'll be picking one up shortly ........

Billy I don't know why you are moaning about the lack of Skoda's ........They are crap anyway and besides you drive one day in day out.:rofl::rofl::rofl:

GT is all about the exotic imo

Yea but it would be nice to have a play in the cars we drive daily, least then I can race it around and not be worried about smashing it up lol.

I do drive mine day in day out and I still love it, even wi the time I am in it every day its awesome

Don't mention Play, mine as been packing for 2 days, they have already taken the cash and the call centre in the phillipines is a waste of time :thumbdown:

OK, got home, shoved the disc in the PS3 and there's already an update to be downloaded... It's taken them 5 years to release the blinking game and there's an update already???

My bro got me the game, arrived on tuesday, unfortunately he sent it to his place! Cant play it till the weekend :( G25 all set up and everything..

Prepare to spend lots of time waiting... 133mb download, copy data to hard drive and I've never been in a game where the menu system sucks as bad as this one... Looks good though, had a blast round Monza in arcade mode before starting out proper, hope the AI of the GT mode is better than arcade mode...

Got this today and im very underwhelmed . It doesnt look any better than forza 3, only thing i have noticed over forza is the spoiler on the R8 pops up when you reach the required speed other than that it's forza for the ps3. Roll on forza 4 next year should be an improvement over this anyday. Also the load times once installed are only slightly better .
