Just bought Top Up Oil but...

Featured Replies

I think that's the latest name for my oil. I went off the numbers ie 5w30. The ultra is 5w40

The "AR-L" in the product name is quite important - the fact sheet on the website for the specific oil you've bought only lists it as being approved to ACEA C4 and RN0720.

It might just be that Shell have never bothered sending it to VW for approval, and that it would meet spec - however, it's hasn't been approved, so strictly-speaking using it will invalidate your warranty.

Why would a main Skoda/SEAT franchise sell it if it was'nt suitable for their vehicles.

I made sure before I left the dealers that they gave me the correct oil.

Like I said I even made the lady on the sales counter go into the workshop for a second opinion. And she came back with the same oil.

Plus if I put this in my vehicle and I get engine trouble then I will hold them personally responsible.

Are you also going to hold mcdonalds and starbucks responsible if you get fat and have a heart attack?
