** UPDATE ** Just been Jabba'd :)

Featured Replies

Sorry I missed you mate, it'd of been good to meet up with fellow Briskodians! I got lost too! I got the compliments slip from JabbaSport, and it said on Postland road, I got there at 8.40, luckily I needed all the time as a Milkman told me where it was in the end :)

Oh dear......it's so much easier to find now than the original premises.

That said you should turn left into the road by the Garden Centre and do a U turn to turn right back onto the main road, to turn back into Jabba...there is no "turn right" lane for Jabba. That part of the road is very quick plus it's on a blind bend.

But seriously good figures there! Looking more and more promising for the time I eventually go back there. ;)

I shall be "visiting" some time in March. ;)

Cars not running right.......needs a new "radiator".

Would a FMIC increase power further or would it be mainly for warm weather. It'd be nice to break the illusive 200 bhp barrier.

The old premises were a nightmare to find. It was just off Cluttons Close in Crowland, but it looked as though you going to end up in sombody's back garden!

Should be going to Jabbasport myself, soon! ;)

Generally there's 2 issues here:

1) you should be able to hold power for longer. Normally a remapped 1.8T power will drop off towards to end of the rev range due to excessive heat i.e. higher inlet temps. The FMIC will allow the power to be held longer.

2) remapping to take FMIC into consideration will allow more boost to be run due to the lwoe rinlet temps.

Now boost is not some much an issue with diesels...more to do with fuel...I think hence why Michael backs off due to excessive soot, clutch slip etc. I guess though as diesel is compressed with air and cold air is denser, an FMIC would have some affect.....don't know how much though.

* as usual all my disclaimers apply. ;)

Whats with all the bloody "quotation marks" :thumbup:

indeed it is. Went pass jabba once before I found it lol.

After chatting to Michael he thinks the Cupra intake is a good thing infact he was very interested in the part numbers.

Only one quick question and I'm sure this has been covered before, the "one touch" on the front windows no longer works, is it best to take it into a dealer? Will they kill the new remap?

Direct Line only added an extra
Liverpool & Victoria Insurance do not add any extra to you insurance premium for remapping so long as the cubic capacity of the engine in not increased. There are many who use L&V on this forum for this reason. I think there are many historical threads on the subject

Just giving an example of a typical premium increase........I have an L&V policy.....however, peeps wanting to take out new policies will not be covered for mods...

Niether does mine but I think the manual shows you how to reset it and it's not one of the things on VAG-COM.

Hey - the one touch thing can be reset manually - I think you have to put the windows fully up, then release the switch, then HOLD the switch in the UP position for about 2 or 3 seconds, and the one touch is restored! Hope this helps you both out. :D

PS: If this doesn't work do a search on here and I'm sure the solution is around somewhere.

Not sure if he just wasnt trying but last night I tested my new found powers against a new Z4 BMW (may of been 2.5) and I just pi$$ed on it, he appeared to be gunning it as I had to use all my Jabba powers but I sailed by him without too much of a fuss. Damn this thing is quick 70-90 is unbelievable. I love my private track.

Hellfire...

Great figures on your remap! I can't wait for the next group buy... definately going to take the cupra intake option too ;)

However, I do have a quesiton for you regarding the clutch. You mentioned that the power was turned down due to clutch slippage, but only by 5bhp or so... What was Jabba's opinion on the life of the clutch post remap? I'm just thinking that if you are only 5bhp off the maximum load point, won't it start to slip pretty soon? I'm trying to work out exactly what I want from my remap, but obviously if a new clutch will be needed in the short term, I'll need to budget for that too!

Have you noticed any slippage around peak torque ~1800 - 2200rpm? By the way, how quick do you think the 30-70 run is now in 3rd gear? My standard fab rs is pretty handy in this range at the moment (7-8 secs), but I'm really intruiged at what could be achieved post remap? :D

Thanks,

Dave

Ok the clutch hasnt slipped at all in any gear, and i've had no juddering etc. I found it strange that they only lowered it 3.5 bhp and suddenly there was no clutch slippage but if you notice it's the torque going through the clutch which causes the problems. This has been dropped from 323 lb/ft to 300.5 lb/ft.

3rd gear 30-70 runs seem endless, I havent done a direct comparison but it feels a good 2 seconds quicker (honestly!). :revs: :drive:

As for the life of the clutch - how long is a piece of string? depends on how you drive it I suppose however if it doesnt slip in the future then I cant see why it would drastically affect it...Others who have had remaps for longer may want to chip in here! :D

Cheers Jay I will have ago when I've finished work!!

As chris said above I haven't had any clutch slippage and I've got a wee bit more power :D (ok not alot :P) there is only some judder from very low revs if you really put your foot down (like in second). The big difference is just how much smoother all over the car is now really revy (for a diesel).

If your sensable with your clutch and kind on your car then the clutch will be fine. From 70 in 6th it is really quick!!

Dave mine did a 5.9 seconds 30 - 70 using 2 and 3rd just after revo. I do experience clutch slip now at about 2200 revs now in 2nd and 3rd after just over 11000 miles since the map. Now covered just over 25k miles total and waiting for the update on the stronger clutch which Ross is keeping an eye on for us via AMD i think.

Just a thought has anyone taken a video camera with them to jabba to record your car on the rolling road before and after re-map if they let you of course might take mine along in febuary if its ok with them.

Old premises did have a viewing window into the rr...not sure if the new rr bay does though...can't seem to remember there being one.

That said remapping is quite an interesting process and can be quite disconcerting for a first time experience.....literially sounds if your motors going to blow up and you can feel the vibrations of the rr through the floor.

If they do have a viewing room, leave your mechanical sympathy at the door. As Adrian says, remapping is quite a process.

Mike may have only turned down the power by 3bhp but the torque has gone from 323lb.ft to 300lb.ft. That's the difference between dead clutch & happy clutch! ;)

Does the boost and/or torque hold all the way the the redline?

Hellfire congrats on the resluts! Shall be getting Jabba'd later this year :)

Oh and what does miss morley think

She said she can't notice any difference :) But then she doesnt drive it fast or often so she isnt to know! Women...(I know that'll get her on here!).

Will do some vids of it soon, just so you can all see how quick a Jabba'd furby is.

Chris.
