Anyone got a Yeti with electric drivers seat?

Featured Replies

I have a problem with the whole "memory" thing.

I set the seat position, set the mirrors then press "SET" and "1" within 10 seconds of each other and I get no audible confirmation that the setting is stored. (I've tried "2" and "3" in case button one has a problem

If I then press "1" the mirrors all move in a bit to somewhere that's no use to me.

How do you store a setting?

I wonder if this is just the start of VW's plan on making Skoda's with less spec to take the heat off them?

It will be interesting to see if my BW43 MY11 Superb still has this feature that was included on MY10 Superb's?

I have a problem with the whole "memory" thing.

I set the seat position, set the mirrors then press "SET" and "1" within 10 seconds of each other .......

That's how it works on my Superb and after you press 1 you get a " bong " !

I can't begin to express how disappointed I am at being so misled by SUK. I feel an email coming on and either money back or a retro-fit if they realise the mistake at factory. I'm getting my car Tuesday morning and will check the manual. If that explains the function I think the factory has just been building them wrong - it only being a RHD options since week 45 I believe. If the manual says nothing (as I'm afraid it will) Skoda will pay for my electric seats.

I, and I hope others, would be happy to send emails.....but I just don't know where it will get us, unless it can be shown (for you bods who've ordered especially) that they have specifically said they're electrically folding and are now not. You lot will know I've been bashing on about this to the point of excess almost, trying to get it in print but no-one has and now it seems the truth is out.

As was mentioned, in February this year, in the Octavia 2 threads, there was 6 pages of discussion about elec. folders, or the lack of, and Skoda did capitulate in some cases.

If people here are getting fed up with me going on, then say so, after all I'm a newbie here and don't want to barge in, but I was/am going to order this coming week and I'm very disappointed to find out about this, especially as I was so earnestly led to believe they were there on the Elegance.

Thanks to all for their advice which is very much appreciated.

It makes you wonder who in their wisdom decides to fit standard puddle lights but no power fold mirrors or even not to have them on the options list. Would have thought generally the latter are far more useful - unless you are unfortunate enough to constantly alight in a dark field full of moo moos.:giggle: There, I've put my foot in it.

Guess its SUK wisdom.

May I comment, i was heart set on buying a Yeti, cept the Missis persuaded me to stick to the Octavia cos of the DSG ( that is without petrol or 4WD)

Anyway from my many perusals of the numerous (blush) Yeti Brochures I had about, and with my Sciatica (bad back ) and being interested in the electric seat I UNDERSTOOD electric folding mirrors were part of the leccy seat spec

( & me got an "B" at "A" Level Engerlish, 1974 I tink, witout even swotting, really? yes seriously and that were 30 year ago, when "A" Levels meant sommat)

Cheers

Marcus

The more I read about the more annoyed I am.

I've ordered a vehicle with a £500 seat option not because I wanted the electric seat more so the folding mirrors, worse than that I'll be paying over £20k for a vehicle that I have to get out of and fold the mirrors in and out in order to get in and out of my entrance (which will mean stopping on a busy main road), something I've not had to do on my last 5 vehicles.

I cannot believe that Skoda UK are unable to provide a full and correct specification list of the vehicles that they sell, to either their dealers or customers. The configurator clearly says ' the mirrors can be electrically adjusted or folded in when parked to avoid any knocks of scrapes' and yes they use 'of' instead of 'or'. My invoice from the dealer also mentions combined option of seat and folding mirrors.

I will be visiting my dealer this week with a view to cancelling my order, I wonder if I'll get my deposit back?

If you go through the Octy configurator it is clear when foldable mirrors are truly an option - in the case of the Yeti they are not described in the actual option narrative, simply in the description on one side. An ambiguous description at that. I'm as frustrated as anyone having also gone for this option for the foldable mirrors but I do think we're on a hiding to nothing, Skoda will argue it's our misinterpretation. Although if we can swamp Skoda UK with a huge number of e-mails we should get them to change the wording on the configurator so that future owners are not misled.

Maybe all those affected should contact SUK by phone and or email. If everyone contacted them as soon as possible, and asked to speak to a Supervisor, perhaps it might, just, raise an eyebrow. It seems to take ages to get a response to emails sent from the website though.

Many here seemed to have spent £500 in order to get the useful folders rather than the seat functions and now it seems they're not fitted. That's a real downer for me, I was about to order them, and, I'm sure, you people too.

Also it might perhaps lend some moral support for James at Allams if he was given to understand they were fitted and advised accordingly.

Just a thought anyway.......tell me if it's not a good idea....(or ignore my ramblings....most people do). :)

EDIT Just seen the same suggestion above posted two minutes before mine.

Oh without a doubt I'm sending them an email. They've misled me. Wording might have been ambiguous but with both the Octavia and Superb having these folding mirrors why would we have suspected anything else for similar money when we tried to decipher the SUK wording?

I specified the electric seat option because I wanted the electric seat. The power folding mirrors would be great, but they are not a deal breaker. I wanted the seat before I ordered the car but was told I couldn't have it. Then it became available. So I added it to my order.

There is nothing ambiguous about this statement from the configurator:

Electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors with auto dimming, memory function and boarding-spotsThe door mirrors can be electrically adjusted or folded in when parked, to avoid any knocks of scrapes.

It is in the same sentence, there electrically applies.

Because it is a totally (lower possibly?) different model from the other two, you should never assume that because one model has the spec that others will, you have to draw the line somewhere.

I can't comment on the wording not being clear as I have not read the Yeti brochure.

If anyone should be vaguely interested, here is the gist of my web based message to Skoda, sent just a moment ago. I've tried not to be confrontational and hope they respond promptly, but I was told that these messages have to be 'passed around a bit' (my description) before they get answered.

Hello. If I may I would like to pursue the question of electrically folding mirrors on the Yeti (Elegance). Or rather, the mirrors that DO NOT fold when you pay £500 for the electric seat/mirror option. I note the reply that Marketing made by email to the Customer Service advisor when I sought advice by phone in which they said they do not fold electrically (this being on Friday last).....and indeed, prior to that email, I was told by Marketing, again via the (Customer Service Advisor), that the entire mirror housing was fixed and did not even fold manually....this. obviously being completely wrong. The description is ambiguous on the website and not even mentioned in the brochure. I was, tomorrow (Monday 22nd), going to place an order for a 1.2 DSG Elegance with metallic paint and other options including the £500 seat/mirror option as I required power folding mirrors and had, till very recently, understood from information received, that I would get power folding mirrors. I very much regret that this function is not present on the Yeti, as it is on the Octavia and Superb. It is a far more useful function than the 'Boarding Spots' in the mirrors and is present on Yeti's from other countries, so it is obviously technically available. I am now sitting on my order, hoping that Skoda may see sense and specify the electrically folding mirrors on the Yeti thus fulfilling the (ambiguous) promise made in the Car Configurator. Please look and see how badly described this option is. I now earnestly request that you look, urgently, in to this matter and plead with you to reply at your very earliest convenience. I thank you for your time and very much look forward to hearing from you.

Nicely written! Best of luck. I hope they see sense but I'm not holding my breath.

Configurator's actual wording on clicking the info button for the Yeti :-

Yeti Elegance (£0 option) "Electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors with auto dimming, memory function and boarding-spots The door mirrors can be electrically adjusted or folded in when parked, to avoid any knocks of scrapes."

The Octy & Superb read :-

Octavia Elegance (£150 option)

"Electrically adjustable, heated and foldable door mirrors with auto dimming and memory function (RHD)"

Superb Elegance (standard)

"Electrically adjustable body coloured door mirrors (with integrated indicators and memory function)"

There is no mention of 'folding' on the configurator for the Superb but the SE & Elegance get them as standard as stated in the brochure!

Is it any wonder confusion reigns? :swear: :swear: :swear:

Who started this thread in any case? :x

I too achieved A level English many years.ago . grammatically you are correct in my opinion. If there had been some form of punctuation between the "adjusted and or", it would not be one complete sentence and the "electrically" and "folded" would not apply to one another ( Just my 3 pennies worth....... Good luck Guys.)

Sadly I fear you will get no joy out of SUK re the configurator, just checked and the RRP is still stating a steel cover, even though they are aware it's plastic now and has been since early August :S

You might be better writing to a few of the motoring mags and telling them how great the cars are but the same cannot be said for the organisation or staff employed by the importer Skoda UK. Also might be interesting to write to both Skoda CZ and the head of the VAG group and also tell them that the ineptitude of SUK is losing them business and putting customers 'backs up'.

About time they had a real shake up me thinks; in my trade the term Cowboys springs to mind

I don't disagree with any of what you say but (and there had to be a but)...I tried hard to get further up the pecking order at Hyundai when I had a gripe...and utterly failed. They're guarded, hidden away, secured behind an army of minions, worker ants, whose job it is to fend off us plebs with politically correct buzzwords and phrases whilst, at the same time, doing as little as possible - using terms and conditions to evade or avoid actually providing 'Customer Service'...as in service for the customer. It could be said they iritate me somewhat. I just want to have a sensible, meaningful conversation with someone who hears and is able to say "right, we need to do this, or that, to solve this problem"....but you get, in my case last week at SUK, a girl who doesn't own a car - or even know how to drive a car, Ask her about anything vaguely practical or technical..and you might as well be asking for seat on a rocket to the moon. Ask to speak to a supervisor and "he's in a meeting" honest, he's always in a perishing meeting. To actually speak to someone in a proper technical or marketing department of a car manufacturer is, in my experience, not something likely to happen any time soon.

Anyway, TP, if you can suggest how to get contact details of Skoda CZ or VAG, whereby they would actually see my correspondence, then, as you've probably gathered, I'll politely write to them.

My trouble is, I want an answer yesterday.

Never mind.

Funny, it must be me, but I've always understood that to mean:

mirror glass adjusted electronically

mirror body can be folded (manually)

2 seperate entities and not connected.

Shows how different people read things differently.

Re. Skoda Yeti

Hello.

I am extremely sorry to trouble you. I'll be as brief as possible. I wish to order a Skoda Yeti Elegance in the UK. In the UK Car Configurator is shown an option for £500. It is the electric seat/mirror option and offers electric seat adjustment and memory function as well as electric and memory function door mirrors and the website is ambiguous and unclear about folding the mirror electrically...it infers that the mirrors do fold electrically and many people have ordered this option and paid £500 extra. This option is not even shown in the current Skoda Yeti brochure. I have very recently been advised by UK Skoda marketing via UK Skoda Customer Service that the mirrors DO NOT fold electrically. They do have a "Boarding Spot" function which, in practice, is much less useful then the electrically folding option. Furthermore many people have been misled in to buying the option only to find that the mirrors are manual NOT electric. May I ask you to investigate this problem please. Would it be possible to introduce the electric operation to cars which have the electric seat/mirror option? Perhaps the motor is already installed in the mirror housing and just requires a different switch to be fitted? I repeat I am sorry to trouble you with this but do respectfully request that you look at the matter and advise me as soon as possible as I wish to finally decide upon my purchase of a new Skoda Yeti. I thank you very much and very much look forward to hearing from at your earliest opportunity.

Regards,
