We have been members on this forum for sometime now and thought its about time to introduce ourselves and also take time to help out with any technical questions where needed.

Background on myself started some cough (26years) ago when I started work at a Peugeot Garage and soon became master tech there, Building rally cars is where my modifying started (Talbot Sunbeams for the first season) soon moving onto GTI's and then Golf TDI.

Mechanically tuning is my background where we ported heads, balanced con rons, lightened cracks / flywheels. Remember the good old days of building a 205GTI with MI16 engine running Twin 45s, cams, lightened pulleys with a 1.6GTI low ration gearbox

Moving with the times and many garages later has got me to where I am now. Tuning now is basically the same as its always been but is much more advanced and electronically controlled.

The engine control unit is ever evolving and keeping up with technology requires constant learning. The latest EDC17 & MED17 control units found in the latest models of vehicles have come a long way since the old electronically control ignition systems of old days.

I pride myself on tuning correctly and also knowing how to give that extra touch to tuning with things like, Vmax (Speed Limiters), Left Foot Braking, DPF Delete (Correct DPF delete and not just dtc's turned out with ecusafe SW that 90% of so called tuners are using), Correct values shown in logging for heavy modified vehicles etc etc

We have just custom tuned and removed a DPF from a 60plate T5.1 2.0TDI CR 180BiTurbo as well as removing DPF systems from majority of the other makes and models.

A common mistake from some tuners is the VAG 2.0TDI where after tuning they get massive turbo spike which results in blow Turbos, to correctly tune these 2.0TDI requires datalogging and the tuned software adjusting to match the data from the datalog. They are controlled by a Bosch EDC16 ECU and within this software there is a vgt pilot control map which controls the turbo vane position which needs adjusting to suit any turbo spikes.

I'm here more to help out over advertising and also help people understand the correct way there vehicle should be tuned.

Any advice or help anyone needs please feel free to ask.

Kind Regards

Martin
